I'm sure you guys get this question a lot but I couldn't find much info on it.. We just moved and had the directv tech come out to say we have no line of sight anymore. They are sending out a supervisor to confirm, what are the chances the answer is different from the supervisor? The tech actually told us to call Dish network, that they recently launched a new HD satellite in a different direction. I don't want to have Dish come out and then have Directv tell me they can figure it out but my family is getting impatient with no TV..? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, are you surrounded by trees? You can check LOS by going to www.dispointer.com and use the aerial mapping tools to determine LOS

Not surrounded, just sort of a wall of trees in the only direction they looked. I don't know what satellites to select on that website, but any that say directv all point in that direction.

Choose the multi sat for DirecTV that has the 99, 101 and 103 numbers with it.

We don't know where s/he is at, they could very well need the 119 as well

I've read that in 119 areas a supervisor can authorize using a 3lnb if there is no los to 119.

A SUP has no authority over ISS.

Actually it is approved. Topeka, Ks is a market where 119 delivered standard def local channels and when a customer cannot get 119 due to LOS a SL3 is installed and the work order is changed to reflect so and this is approved. I would imagine other markets are the same.

    ISS would disagree with that

If you won't answer the question, I, and everyone else, will assume you are full of bs.

ISS has nothing to do with what equipment is installed on a job they are there for IV failures and helping techs troubleshoot issues. If a work order is changed to reflect that a 3 instead of 5 was installed then there would be no failure therefore ISS would never even be in the loop on the job.

ISS approves dishes that don't get 119 in an area that has it locals in 119? I thought that was what all installers have said for ages and peds was trying to say.
