Let's hope our next update allows us to test it on the HR21!

I'll just be happy to see channel 1000 show up on my HR20 after activating it 5 hours ago! :p

That'll be a heck of a jump in code if they do. I'm thinking it'll get upgraded in baby steps.

Man.......I had to move my HR21 to a different room and bring the HR20 back to the family room with the network connection to test VOD. I am going to have to buy a wireless network adapter. So, I can switch it back.

Waiting for by HR20 to get VOD first....once I get it there, I'll get back to you. ;)

(but I'd rather see "stability" for the HR21...it's currently sitting a little more idle than my HR20 because it's really a crapshoot as to whether it'll glitch/lockup/not be able to play videos)

If I had to choose between VOD and stability at this point, I would definitely choose stability. But I would really love to see them both in the next update!

    Middle...
I agree with both points. Yesterday morning I had a HARD lockup that even pulling the plug the first time didn't fix. It was ugly! So bring on the "Misc. stability fixes" - I'm all over it!

That said, I missed the HR20 CE this weekend and even if I had been able to do it, the box is in another room now so I wouldn't be able to play with VOD anyway. Oh well.

I seriously doubt we'll see VOD on this box until at least a couple more updates.

The underlying code may be included, but they still need to get the stability and base features under control first, and I suspect that will take at least 2 more updates.

Hopefully, this is the week we get something. Earl last indicated the next updated would most likely be a push-out.

stability. VOD is fun, but lets get the hr21 to a point where its a reliable digital video recorder.

I agree stability is number 1. It's geting pretty old to have to RBR every day or every other day. If you want VOD, turn on your HR20. We jsut need to get this box up to HR 20 stability levels.

Thinking out loud (with no information from DIRECTV), if the differences between the software for the HR21 and HR20 are purely device drivers (to account for the different chips), then once the device drivers are sorted out, perhaps a large jump to a very recent release is quite possible.

Then again, it is 3:30am where I'm at...

    Cheers,
    Tom

Where is your sense of adventure?

Go for it, VOD, MRV, DLB or DBL, whatever that one is... FAX MODEM, Color Printer, ... :D

Tom, was thinking the same a while back with the -100 & -700 but there's still much time between -700 and -100 CE's.

Was thinking that once you got the device drivers 100% tested, that maybe (hopefully) one image could be used on each machine and it could select different device drivers or different runtime routines at boot time.

With the long delay between -100 and -700 CE's, just guessing that it might be much more complicated than that.

    Same with HR21 maybe.
