I have an HR24-100. When I try to tune to 1000 or 1100, I get a blue banner saying that the channel is unvailable. After reading some posts on here, I did a menu reset but still have the same problem.

Thoughts on what the problem is?

Did that and 100% passed. Doesn't VOD come through the Sat?

No. The satellite dish on your roof is a RECEIVER only, it can't request on demand stuff. For that, an internet connection is required.

I understand that. I thought VOD comes down through the sat.

Yes and no. If you have a HD DVR DIRECTV will push between 7 to 9 movies to their part of the harddrive via satellite. Those VOD/PPV's have a checkmark in a green circle, the rest of them will be download via your internet connection when you select them to record.
