I realize that OTA is going to be better quality but take more space. Can someone please tell me in general how much mpeg4 HD vs mpeg2 HD the HR20 can record.

I saw this here yesterday but my search skills are failing me today.

    Thank you

As far as quality goes I think the MPEG4 HD channels look just as good as OTA. I believe the MPEG4 HD channels use about 2/3 of the space OTA MPEG2 HD channels use. I think the HR20 will record about 50 hours of MEPG4 HD and 30 hours or so of OTA MPEG2 HD. If I am not right about that some one please correct me.

I found these numbers over in the dish area (please forgive me :p ). Do there look about right for DirecTv too?

    1 hr of MPEG2 SD = approx 1 GB
    1 hr of MPEG2 HD = approx 4 - 5 GB
    1 hr of MPEG4 HD = approx 2 - 3 GB
