I believe Scott said he offered DirecTV the same deal (in essence) that Dish signed up for, which more or less means that it is on a non-sport's tier in-market (@ 80 to 90 cents per subscriber) and sport's tier out of market (at probably something less per sub).

Is he being truthful when he says this? I have no idea.

Does it even matter at this point? To me, no.

In any case, I'm amazed how passionate some people are when in actuality, it really won't affect them one way or the other, no matter how this situation ultimately turns out. The ironic double standards being thrown about over this issue is really funny. I won't name names, but it makes you wonder about their ulterior motives as some people take great offense at any disparaging comments directed at DirecTV. Maybe I'm unable to empathize to that degree, but if someone insulted my cable company, I wouldn't care one way or the other as it wouldn't affect me, personally, like others take offense to it here.

In fact, these forums are rather suspect in my opinion.

Let's not forget that currently Charter, Cox, TWC, Dish, DIRECTV, Fios, Uverse, Cablevision, etc, etc, etc all do not have a FS1 deal.

It has so little to do with those channels. Sports is a very small viewing audience. If that hypothesis was correct, you would see churn overindexing in Texas, and the Pac 12 school territories.

Is that because the Pac-12 and Longhorn network are Regional Channles?

I'm guessing sportman13 isn't from around here. Nobody expects P12N to be on DirecTV this year.

Nobody know for sure but unless something changes I doubt we'll see PAC-12 on DIRECTV this year...of course I've been wrong before.

It will never be on DirecTV until DirecTV decides to become "the sports leader" again, like they were back in, say, 2007.

Interesting. One could argue that they're trying to stay the sports leader.

That they've decided they need to keep costs under control so they can afford to provide the most sports programming for their subscribers at a reasonable cost.

It's one way to look at it.

Of course your comment leads me ask...since you believe DIRECTV isn't the sports leader anymore, which providers have more sports coverage?

Does DirecTV show less sports now than they did in 2007?

You mean before everyone and their mother decided to launch channels dedicated to specific leagues, RSNs for specific teams or even schools when it comes to Longhorn, who now want to pass the high cost they have to pay the leagues because of the bidding war they got in to get those rights from the existing channels that aired them?

You can't blame D* for that.
