Chicago Woman Owes $105,000
The city is to be blamed, too, for not towing and booting her car as most every other city does to repeat and high volume offenders.
678 tickets over three years? That's almost two tickets every three days. I bet she must park in the same no parking zone near her home or work every day, and some days a cop just doesn't happen by, or weekends don't count (say she works M-F).
According to the article the car was in an airport parking lot for the three years.
Did anyone look in the trunk?
She should re-register the car in the name of the Mayor, and see if the tickets and charges transfer to him.
If so, the law will be fixed. pronto!
Long term airport parking us typically $8 a day or less, which is probably less than most people can pay for long term automotive storage locally, so I would imagine that airports have some cooperative arrangements with municipalities to penalize non-flyers who abuse the airport parking situation.
Uncovered storage for a car in the MD suburbs runs from $50 to $100 per month - way less than $8 a day. You can get a monthly space in a garage in downtown DC for less than that.
At the Manchester, NH airport long-term parking is $10 per day, and in Boston it’s something like $22.
