The title in earlier thread is appropriate for my problem. But it happens to me from different place.

I am on an earlier Hopper with software version S542 NEBD.

This has happened to us 4-5 times over the past week or a little more.

I get a dark, slightly pinkish screen which I cannot exit from, requiring a reboot. In every instance it has happened after pressing pause, then press pause again to restart the recording.

I would check SMART of HDD and run Long Diag on it (not by the h's FW !!)

I thought a pink screen was an indication of loss of signal.

I'm sure it's not loss of signal. Might be loss of data from HDD.

P Smith, are you saying pull the drive and run diags?

    yeah
I'm usually using MHDD (from self bootable CD or USB stick) or GSmartControl under Windows

DTV and dish's FW (DVR) well known for obscuring results of testing HDD and hiding what exactly they are checking :(
