Stop making excuses for terrible parenting. The parents did, indeed, endanger their children by exercising terrible judgment in bringing an infant and small child to a midnight showing of a dark and foreboding movie. Someone should have mentioned this when they were being interviewed.

So if my neighbors are beating their 6-year-old child it's perfectly OK. After all, it's their kid; let them do what they want.

    Yeah, nice logic there.

"Change" or "amend," either way you are incorrect. The 2nd Amendment was never amended nor changed by the Court. That job lies solely with the U.S. people through the ratification process.

Beating a child and having them out at midnight - great jump in logic. As long as they're not doing anything illegal, it's none of your business.

No, rather another brilliant example of how your original statement lacks logic by its stating that just because something isn't of one's own, others shouldn't have an opinion or become involved.

This parental deal is nothing more than a red herring for the pro gunners and 2nd amendment fear protectors. Ignore the real issues and focus on these parents doing nothing wrong.

Doesn't stop the fact that I have never seen a story on the news were guns have saved lives and i know it has happened.

The parents did do something wrong, but their actions pale in comparison to what Holmes did.

Guess you didn't see/hear about the shooting in a church where someone [an officer] was carrying and was able to.

That depends. There are some so deranged that they would find a life sentence to be a reward.

I have. I saw one 2 days ago about some kids who tried robbing the wrong internet cafe. A gun toting man shot them and chased them off.

There's always stories on clerks pulling guns on robbers.

Didnt see it but u said officer not a civilian. That would be different as they wouldn't be subject to gun bans.

Agreed. I'm all for guys like him. He didn't need an AR-15 with 100 bullets ready to go.

Oh, I agree. I don't think either you or I are a deranged criminal though. :)

Yup, I sure have but only overnight. I bet if you went to a prison that had a death row and asked the prisoners whether they'd rather be executed or stay there the rest of their lives the majority would say stay there for the rest of their lives. If they are executed they can't brag about what they did to the rest of the population and you know die hard criminals like to brag.

I don't remember all of the facts, so...
It was a church service where someone went nuts. He was a member who just happened to be carrying, was trained, and took the correct action. This had a good outcome.

This explains why the death penalty costs more:

"California spends an additional $184 million on the death penalty per year because of the additional costs of capital trials, enhanced security on death row, and legal representation."

If the criminals were executed as soon as sentenced to die, or within a week, then these costs wouldn't pile up for them. There would be no "Death Row" because those sentenced to death would actually be dead instead of taking up space in prisons.

Now I realize they are entitled to an appeal, and I have no problem with that because there are times that the wrong man is convicted the first time. The appeals shouldn't last 10 to 20 years though. It's that 10 to 20 years where they sit on "Death Row" and cost us more because "Death Row" costs more than general population.
