So just to be clear, will those of us in NY be able to see Yankee games on MLBEI if this doesn't get worked out? The Yankee games are currently blacked out on EI in NY.

No. EI would only be for out of market (outside New York).

    NY Hudson...
    I'm a rare Mets/Yankees fan here.

Neither team like bad publicity. May go to the wire, but I expect the Yanks to sign a deal.

That's what I thought. A couple of posts seemed to imply otherwise.

How much is YES asking for in their increase?

Don't count on anything. The Yankees lost two full seasons on Cablevision due to programming disputes and YES is still not available on Dish.

Given the current climate, I expect we're going to be seeing more and more of this type of thing. Get used to it.

Yankee fan in Texas, and Lakers fan too. Front runner much? Of course if you root for the Cowboys you have the frontrunner's trifecta!! (but of course if you are in Texas at least the Cowboys make sense.

I'm a Yankees fan from NEW JERSEY, and the main reason years ago I switched from Dish to Directv was the availability of YES (at the time both DISH and my local cable provider Cablevision didn't have YES. While I might be able to go into April without YES (I do have basic cable and YES bleeds into my QAM tuner). If it becomes protracted, I might have to consider a switch back to cable.

IRC, if you are in the NY demo, the EI games are blacked out locally, aren't they? At least that's how it was on mlb.tv last year.

Hilarious, I was going to post that exact sentence... verbatim.

I could probably live without YES by watching th 19 Sox/Yankee games online or via basic cable (though I haven't checked to see if YES is included in basic cable where I am).

I grew up in Tucson, AZ prior to Diamondbacks days. My extended Italian/NY family instilled love for the Yankees (and football Giants, although I like to follow the Colts, Ravens, & Falcons too) at a young age. As for the Cowboys, I hate them with every bone in my body, as much as I hate the Redsox & Patriots. My Lakers love comes from the Suns sucking & never being on TV & Phoenix seeming like it was far away lol, so I had Detroit, Boston, LA, or Philly coverage. My hate for the Sox & Pats made a dislike for the Celtics easy. Detroit was scum & dirty players. Philly was cool with Dr. J. But, LA had style! Here's more fuel for you guys.....my favorite NHL team - Detroit.

On topic...I need Directv to feed my sports addiction  and YES is a much needed enabler. ;)

Less than DIRECTV's February rate increase.

If it's OK for DIRECTV to raise our rates, it's OK for YES to raise their rates.

    Oh, come on.

That would just lead to a larger rate increase unless DirecTV has already accounted for a potential YES increase.

LOL. You do realize the D* raises it's rates to cover for the programming rate increases. Programming costs are far and away the largest operating expense D*, E*, Comcast, etc, etc have. Not even close.

I would expect DIRECTV to have higher programming expenses than the others. You guys have more subscribers than the others. A larger family means a larger grocery bill. ;)

All I'm saying, DIRECTV has reasons for their rate increase. Clearly YES has reasons too.

Way too densely populated area for Directv not to pony up the money. They'd lose tons of subscribers.

This has made me rethink having them install DECA for the Whole Home Solution. I don't want to invest the money or commit anymore time to D* if I am going to have to leave them for not having YES. If someone could tell me there would be no interruption, I'll be on the phone this weekend setting up the installation.

Being in FL, I assume you have MLBEI, and therefore wouldn't lose the Yankee games.
