Wow Dothan, AL gets theirs but the Decatur-Huntsville, AL market doesn't? Oh well, I guess I'm lucky I live where I can get mine via antenna.

DirecTV doesn't even offer standard definition locals in the Wichita Falls, TX - Lawton, OK market. Very lame. Most satellite dishes I see on rooftops in this area of the country are E*, not D* and it's much to do about that locals issue.

E* has offered SD locals in Wichita Falls, TX - Lawton, OK for years. E* uplinked the HD versions of those locals to the 61.5° satellite on April 2 and is due to make them available to E* customers in that market very soon. According to a report on the EKB News Monitor, those HD locals may be available by "the end of July."

    Outside...
Are they just adding new markets, or also filling in missing channels (My Network, CW) in areas that already have locals in HD?

I'm surprised to see the Traverse City DMA ahead of Lansing.
E* has just lit the Lansing DMA.

I can't believe BUTTE/BOZEMAN is getting HD, and Missoula can't even get SD. I'm done with D*.

I'm disappointed that Tri-Cities, TN is not on the list... the local stations will not give a wavier either...

Are more local HD stations coming out maybe in early 2009? or do I have to wait till D12 goes up?

Looks like I'll miss another year of watching local NCAA Football in HD unless they are on ESPN.

Welcome to the forums, George! :welcome_s

I presume DIRECTV will continue to roll out new locals throughout. I don't think this will fill the constellation of four satellites: S1, S2, D10, and D11.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I couldn't agree more. Neither Missoula or Billings even gets SD. Looks like I will be sticking with cable for now.

I note on the list are some areas that were SD on 72.5 or not SD at all. My guess is if they are going to put the SD up in MPEG4, why not go ahead and put the HD up as well.

    This might explain some things.

Also, remember contract negotiations are always ongoing.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I'm with ya. Smaller markets around me are getting HD, but nothing for Columbia, SC. This is just unbelievable to me. I realize they can't light up every DMA, but we are not a small DMA.

It's time to seriously look at other options.
