NBC has been announcing for the last 2 days that the Opening Ceremony broadcast will begin at 7:30 pm not 8pm.

Has anyone verified that we have to have the extra HD (Universal, etc.) pack to get the channels 750-756? I have the HD package and HD DVR, but don't have the extra HD Universal, and a few other channels in the Extra HD pack.

Just curious, and if so, I can go online to my account and add just for this Special Olympic event, since my local NBC is SD not HD.

What are you waiting to see? It says in the first post Aug 8th. Women's soccer was live this morning on UniHD - it's replaying right now, but that's it so far until men's soccer late tonight/early tomorrow.

Since the HD Extra Pack is 3 months FREE, I guess its a no-brainer.....Done. :)

I expect NBC's Universal channel to have the Olympic coverage that will appear on 750-756 starting on Friday, 8/8, nothing until then.

So were going to miss a $#@%tload of matches tomorrow morning as the mens' tournament begins! This is just stupid. Here my dad with Dish will be gleefully viewing 12 hours of uninterupted HD matches of Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Norway, Germany etc as will my sister who had cable and we get a slew of uninformed dumbfounded call center reps who can do nothing but tell me "the soccer starts on the 9th and you'll have the channel at that time".......

    Dumb question alert...

Do we even get Telemundo? I have the old Choice Plus package and I thought/assumed Telemundo was part of the International Package.

Not unless there are spanish broadcast channels in ur area. In the NY area, both Telemundo and Univison have affiliates that r carried by directv. They are included with the broadcast locals.

It's pathetic that the games start tomorrow and 750-756 still don't appear in the guide. Not to mention the fact that we lose two days of soccer games because D* won't turn the channel on for us.

The soccer game yesterday (Women's) was on MSNBC, and replayed at 7pm cst on Universal HD. There's really no reason to turn on the Olympic channels for 1 game.

    WRONG!

There were six games yesterday and eight games today.

Yesterday, one game was televised on MSNBC/UHD and the other five were on the NBC Soccer Channel, which DirecTV didn't turn on.

Same story with today's games...one game was televised on MSNBC/UHD and the other seven were on the NBC Soccer Channel.

Can someone please tell me why they held the football games before the Olympics actually starts? It's a real shame that football isn't more popular
    in America..... :(

They start the prelims for the soccer tourney early so they can get all the matches over with before the closing ceremony.

Due to the format they use for the mens and womens pool play and the amount of teams that they have in each field there simply is not enough time to get all these games in if they start after the opening ceremony ( and have one or two rest days).

Been this way for quite afew Olympiads now.

Sorry to hear you missed the Argentina and Italy matches today guys. They were really good. Have you ever considered switching your base package from Total Choice_X to Familiar_X.

It's about the same price and wind up getting almost all of the same channels only you get GolTV, Fox Sports Espanol and ESPN Deportes for free along with Telefutura, Telemundo, Azteca America, Azteca Mexico and several other channels that show a ton of soccer. Unfortunately FSC is not included for free but I far prefer FSE's programming over FSC anyway and they usually show the same matches overall, just at different starting times... and the eye candy on that channel is primo - Tania Rincon on "Lo Mejor De Fox Sports" is so hot it makes improving my spanish my top priority :D Also Futbol Para Todos is one of the funner sports shows on television period.

The biggest drawback for me is I had to give up BBC America in the switch because the Familiar packages don't carry it. It sucks, but in the end it was worth the tradeoff.
