I have usually found that the first response you get when sending an e-mail is not usually on target with the question that was asked. Reply to the e-mail that you got and basically just re-ask the question. You should get a better response (or one at least that more directly answers your question).

Yes, I sent a follow up response and am wating on a reply...

Thank you for the reply, however you did not address the issue. The reason the customers did not provide a valid account number is because I trusted that DirecTV had printed my account number properly on the referral coupons. I feel I met my responsibility for providing correct information for the referral program where all I was supposed to do was pass out the coupon. Why is my account number not correct on these coupons?

So the next message from DirecTV says....

    Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for writing back in to us. Your email has been forwarded to me so that I may assist you with this concern. I am very sorry to hear of the frustration you have had regarding this DIRECTV offer with the referral coupons. This is the first time I have heard of this type of situation and I wanted to let you know that I have submitted this to look into this misprinting issue.

Please be sure to contact the people you have passed this coupon to so they are aware of this error regarding the printing of these coupons for your account. Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to us.

    Sincerely,

I replied back to DirecTV that it is too late for me to do anything about it as some of the people I gave coupons to now have service. I also sent a photo of the coupon as an email attachment.

Another email form DirecTV acknowledged receipt of the photo I sent showing one of my coupons with the incorrect account number and said it would be documented on my account. The email said they could not make a monetary credit to my account but did turn on Showtime for 6 months. I appreciate the effort although Showtime is not a channel I watch the email did show more sympathy to the issue.

If you know people that gave your account number and followed the process you should provide DIRECTV their names and account numbers and insist on credit.

    Anyway, that's what I'd do.

I looked at gitarzan's profile. It states his DBS Provider is DISH Network and that his DBS and/or satellite radio equipment is vip622. OP, care to clarify?

I had Dish when I joined DBSTALK 4 years ago. Just never thought to update my profile.

If you were that interested in getting the $100 referral credit (and you must be given the email chain back and forth now with Direct TV), this should've been double checked.

I would never have thought to double check my account number. Ever.

I've heard too many stories of Direct TV messing various things up....I check everything they send me....especially when it's credits involved.

You're a forum dweller. Joe Sixpack wouldn't/shouldn't have to check that.

I received a new set of referral coupons in the mail today. Offer ends 7/20/11. Like the previous ones they have my account number printed on the front and back without the last number.

I would have to think that I am not the only person getting these useless coupons. DirecTV needs to stop sending these coupons out as they are very wasteful and useless because most people will not recognize the mistake.

I wonder, how many digits are in the actual account numbers that got cut off? I was thinking if at some point they went from 8 to 9 digits or something, and the system they use was hardcoded for 8 digits.

I got some with the last bill like usual and checked out of curiosity. It just has boxes for me to put the numbers in myself.

I use autopay and have not seen the coupons that have boxes. Are there enough boxes to put your full account number?
