Ok - I just have to say this is just freaking funny!:lol:

Shoe is on the other foot I guess!!!

I guess it just goes to show that EVERYONE here is completely insane!

Obviously if you have problems with your receivers it is something in your setup – these receivers are a marvelous miracle of engineering brilliance and can’t possibly have problems!

Ok – back on track…. Peace and love!

By the way - I'm hopefully going to pick up an 'owned' HR20-700 this afternoon... I'll be installing a new drive internally but I'll set it up externally first record a few things and then install it inside... I have little doubt that it will work just fine.

while they are far from perfect, 1 single person going through 50 (iirc this was final number) of them is not usual.
and iirc there was a problem found in the setup also.

Oh I agree - the funny part is that I have 3 HR22-100s that are driving me nuts and Rich is set on the problem being some mysterious problem with my setup (and apparently plenty of others that have the same troubles). I blame the HR series hardware and/or software - many many people complain about the sluggishness of their receivers.

Now Rich is the one being accused of having some problem with his setup or making up his problems!

I don't think we (the public) have any way to know how many of what model fails. Of course any model can fail and even certain models may fail more than others but only DirecTV would be able give us the specifics on failures and somehow I don't think they'll give that information up!

running 3 of the hr21-100 w/ am21 units here on swm-8. have not seen most of the problems that a lot report.
I will say everything started running smoother after the swap from wb616 to swm-8. makes me wonder about switching issues in many instances.
speed is an hr issue, my 21's are not as bad as people running the 22/23 series are fortunately.

Now you are just posting nonsense. Nobody said that there are never any problems and that the hardware never fails. It's just that rich's experience that leads him to believe that -100 models are garbage which might last a few weeks before they fail is virtually unsupported given the hundreds of thousands of other -100 owners who are not experiencing similar high rates of failure and relating their frustrations of those failures here. Like I said, If rich's experience with the -100 models was not isolated to himself, but was representative of the reliability of the -100s as a whole, there would be threads here dedicated to complaining about all the failing -100s.

The slugishness is a software problem and it has nothing to do with rich's belief and repeated proclamations that the -100 hardware is prone to failure... which doesn't seem to match the experience of hundreds of thousands of other owners of -100 hardware.

    cartrivision -

Once again my incredible communication skills fail me!

I wasn't commenting on the validity of your argument just on the irony of someone basically repeating what many times he tells people that are having issues.... Kind of along the long the line of 'My receivers don't have that problem so your problems are with something else or don't exist'....

    It's all good!
