I NEVER even thought about using the "I'm a returning customer" tact when I was calling yesterday, in fact I didn't even try doing that this morning, the CSR told ME I was a returning customer.

Apparently they won't budge on the price of that receiver for a new customer, but for existing or returning customers, they appear to be willing to make a deal.

The install happened this morning and went very smooth.

I personally think the PQ on the HD DVR is better than what I was getting from my DISH Net HD DVR. Even on the OTA locals, the difference is noticeable.

The SD DVR is drastically better than the PQ I was getting from the DISH Net SD DVR.

Because I don't have the new access card for my TiVo box yet, there is a standard non-DVR receiver hooked up to a couple of the TVs. The only complaint I have right now, is the PQ on the two TVs hooked up to that receiver is lousy. But, I think I might have a shoddy splitter I need to replace. I'm going to do that tomorrow and see if it resolves the issues.

I did hook up the TiVo unit directly to one of the TVs to see if it would see the Sats. When I did that, the PQ on that TV was better than the non-DVR receiver hooked up through the splitter - that's what makes me think it's the splitter.

The link didn't work for me, or I don't see what you are mentioning. All I see is the current D* new customer offer.
I have heard of independent installers/contractors offering additional discounts. Through D* directly no.
For the most part, unless your dealing with a good contractor, its best to go directly through D*. Customers are always calling saying that they got their bill and it was nothing like the offer they received from the contractor.
As far as special offers such as the Big Ten deal or any "we want you back"
offers, you must call the specific number on the promo or the number left on your machine.
    These are special depts.
