Am I correct that a DTV remote running in RF mode still emits an IR signal? I can't see how else it could turn a TV on and off.

OTOH, if it is running in IR mode is it also emitting an RF signal? That would be useful to control something like a RF TV lift cabinet.

Yes, when a DirecTV remote is on RF it will send IR commands to your TV and AVR (if you have one). It does not work the other way around , meaning when in IR it does not send RF commands. However, DirecTV RF commands are only for DirecTV equipment it does not control other gear in RF

And it is possible for an RC6X-RF to control DirecTV receivers on RF on AV1 and AV2.

That's too bad. I have a TV lift cabinet that runs on RF. I was hoping I might be able to use AV1 or AV2 for that. Oh, well.

    That's why we have Harmonys

But "Harmonys" also run on their proprietary RF, the only RF (that I am aware of) that is open protocol is Zigbee RF4CE which is what DirecTV is using on their HR44/C41

Correct, and I'm really hoping RF4CE starts getting supported by more companies. I'd love to see a new Harmony remote that supported it (although with the way Logitech has been treating Harmony lately I'm not holding my breath).

Being that DirecTV is the only major TV provider with RF4CE, I would not either
