    Yeah... I pretty much knew from a while back how most of the characters were family names... In theory, "Bart" is Matt... but I guess he changed the name to protect the innocent :)

    There are also several characters that are named after streets in Portland, Oregon -- Flanders, Kearny, Lovejoy, Quimby, Burns(ide) -- so the show is honoring both Matt Groening's family and his hometown.
