Someone said Directv can do a roof installation without drilling holes in the roof. They said they used some sort of "gadget".

Anyone know what this "gadget" is an is it correct that can do this without drilling holes?

    Thanks.

On a flat roof, yes. They can use a non-penetrating or 'sled' mount held down by cinder blocks. I've never seen anything for use on a pitched roof though.

A Commdeck allows a dish to be mounted on a roof without penetrating. However, the Commdeck itself is anchored under the shingles and is more a "best practice" roof mount.

Also, DirecTV has never and will never install a CommDeck. It's something a roofer needs to install, and then a sat tech could install a dish on it.
