This is "HD games only" right?

Any chance, and I doubt it, that non-HD games will be upconverted? I was watching the Blues play LA a few weeks ago OTA on KPLR and still dug upconverted vs. 480.

Does this mean it will part of the "extra" HD tier which will cost $4.99?

Too bad there's only 8 more Blues games in HD for the rest of the season. Oh well, some HD is always better than no HD.

    you sure?

647-1 would be for STL's FSNMW.

    648 is KC. I don't see a 648-1.

    Josh,

Thanks for your e-mail. We expect DirecTV to add FSN Midwest in the
next several months, if not sooner. And we will televise select,
although not all, Royals games in HD next season. We'll set our HD
schedule a couple of months before the start of the season, and expect
to show 20-25% of our Royals games in HD.

At this point, any channel that is expected (and most/all the RSNs are expected) not yet launched is most likely delayed by the content provider not DIRECTV. (I am presuming the RSN legal contracts are already finalized for the multiple RSN providers like Comcast and Fox as one big contract for each.)

I'm hearing that everyone is surprised at how much work it takes to put out an HD production, so several of the channels have been delayed, tho only just a little bit. We'll keep seeing them added as soon as they are ready. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Odd channel. Had the same programming as 628 rather than what was on 647. Even when what was on 628 and 647.1 was an informercial and 647 had actual content.

Is it possible that 647.1 is not really FSN Midwest except during games?

647-1 and 628 are both "To Be Announced" for me with no content on 628 and just garbled sound on 647-1. Is there a reboot in my future?

Neither FSNMW or FSN Pittsburgh were previously announced. Both showed up in engineering mode though, so that bodes well for the other engineering mode only channels.

And this is why it's a part time/game only channel. Why waste all the bandwidth if they are only going to have 8 HD games in the next 6 months. I would expect more of this for the RSNs that don't do a whole lot of HD.

A channel like FSN Detroit is full time because they will have 40+ Wings HD games plus 40+ Pistons games on during the next 6 months plus 80+ Tigers games in HD starting in the spring. Thus they might as well broadcast it full time.

Well, remember only if the games are actually done in HD. Many of these RSNs don't do many games in HD. But what ones are will be available via DirecTV if a contract is in place to carry the HD channel/feeds.

I can now bleed blue in HD...

    Oh Happy Day...When FSMWHD Comes
I can watch Blues Hocky and Bleed Blue in HD and Blues Live, etc.

Now if only Directv would broadcast the blues hockey game on CI like they used to...when they showed the KPLR broadcast on saturdays...I miss the Koplar 11broadcasts like when I grew up

WOW, this is great for us here, as now we get BOTH of our in-market RSN's in HD. (we also get Comcast Chicago, which was added recently) I really didn't expect this to happen this fast & now this blows away cable here, who only now carried occasional Card games in HD. (if you remembered to check their "HD event channel")

Now, if only D* can get our locals up in HD, they'll be all set here.

I think the KCStar said there would be about 30 Royals games broadcast in HD next year.

When I was home at lunch I tuned to 647-1 and I got a black screen with very bad sound distortion. This was on all HD receivers.
