You might want to cancel the CC DTV has before you cancel to avoid those pesky "computer glitches" .....

I waited until last night to cancel and it's a good thing I did. I asked her to cancel it at the end of the day on July 11 (end of billing cycle), but I wake up this morning and it's already turned off. I had to call twice since they don't open until 8:00am and I finally got someone from India who I couldn't understand, but managed to get it turned back on for one more day. We'll see how that goes.

I did notice that yesterday, before I cancelled, my amount due was $0.18. This morning, after I had it turned back on, the amount due is now $106.45. I have a feeling this is not going to be the end of my problems with D*. Two weeks ago, i removed the DVR from my account and just kept the one HD receiver. They we're going to send me out a return box, but I never got it. i asked the retentions girl about it, and she said they didn't want it back. I asked her what I was supposed to do with it, and she said, "oh, we do need it back, we'll send out a return box for it. "

In my opinion you should have not turned it back on.

It is possible that you have now started a new contract.

I see a big mess on your hands over this.

I would call back and see if they can turn it back off and stop this.

Everyone was telling you to wait until you no longer needed the service to have it turned off. If you had waited there would be no problem.

I don't see how the bolded part is possible. She specifically said she would turn it back on for just today, no mention of a new contract, early termination fees, etc. Unless this is some sort of scam they are trying to pull on me.

I am just going on the fact that they have already charged you for next month's worth of viewing.
You terminated service and turned right around and activated it .
All things are possible in a computer system. It does not know or care what the person tells you, it goes off what is programmed.

I have had problems like this with other companies in the past. I called the phone company to add one feature to my mother's phone and they changed her whole service. The bill was much more than I was told on the phone. Took me several calls to get what I was told and had truly added and the excess stuff removed.

And you specifically asked not to have your service turned off until tonight, yet they did.

No scam, you just should have waited until you actually wanted it turned off.

I have, but I also am signed up for autopay from my checking account. I'm not sure how to unlink that account.

They actually turned my service back off this morning some time. I checked my account and the amount due is back to saying $0.16, and it says "account has been disconnected". I'll have to keep an eye on it, and make sure they send me the receiver return boxes promptly.

I'll have to call my credit union to see if there is a way they can stop a payment from being charged from D* without changing my account number. That would be a bit of a headache since I have most of my services set up on some type of autopay tied directly to my checking.

They should now send you a recovery kit to send back all your receivers. Failing to send them back will result in a major bill.

What if they fail to send me the recover kit? Two weeks ago I cancelled the DVR and just kept the H24 to save some money. They said they were going to send me a kit, but I never received it.
