i sure wish there was a way to disable this if we don't want it.
I actually think it's cool and I think they got the right mix of information and ease of viewing. I woudn't mind it showing up on all channels if they got rid of the • SCOREGUIDE popup at the bottom of the screen when you change channels. That would be annoying to have on every channel.
it would be nice if you could select you favorite sport so that it opened on that instaed of making you navigate to the only one you care about.
It kinda does now already....the score page u last had on will always show up 1st....so if had it on nhl scores then that will also be the 1st screen that pops up when u put in on again.
They would have to make it peacefully coexist with other features (ie mediashare) before they could move it to all channels.
I'm with you though, if they could make it coexist, I would really like to see it on all channels (with no banner).

Not to be mean but how many different difficiency reports -- or other tagline used by D to identify software errors -- are already open against the various reciever lines--combined? Probably a significant number.
There is normally a well defined software update cycle (manhours allocated to coding/debuging/checkout/etc..that allows for only a set amount of fixes per software drop in addidion to all the enhancements. This means there is some racking and stacking for each baseline and some fixes, even if already coded or simple to fix will never get fixed. Not enough time in the cycle for everything to be 100%
So if the quoted logic was used it will be a long time before DirecTV gets it to "work properly".
I stopped drinking the coolaide a long time ago and expect no "fixes" that don't help the bottom line......on the D end not my receivers side of the coax.
But those of us who live in rural areas where good internet service is not available lose out again. I'd prefer to keep it just as it is.
That's what you think. I happen to know that it's being worked on right now, and the next software release for the H20 should fix the problems.
it would also be nice that the YELLOW button would work so i can pull up previous channels. it doesnt matter if you hit exit or anything, on any channel with scoreguide the yellow options button doesnt work. they need to fix this.

The ones created by addidng yet another feature without a FULL checkout across all reciever lines? This has been a never ending story since I was sent "the top of the line H20" back in 2006. How many different workarounds, etc.. have we had to use over the last 3 years because of added features. How much longer will we the customers be the beta testers for D without compensation?
Thats why I said if D wants to GIVE me recievers that their software works on I'll shut up and color. If they want to say sure, 199 per and we'll send them right out then the BS flag is getting thrown.
I'm glad they are "working on it" but if it works 100% for all recievers I'll be the first to say congrats. If that is the only fix that drops I'll be dissapointed though.
Tell me the scheduled date time and version for the national release of this software as well as ALL implemented fixes, by tracking number and I'll think you have some truely valuable insight into the problems users -CUSTOMERS!!-are having with the product.
Like I said in my earlier post I'm not trying to be mean to anyone posting info... it is much appreciated....to a point. But a reread of the information supplied seems to be a one sided slant in D's favour of getting the problem fixed and fully integrated. Heck, I'm glad I'm out of the business of software developement, full integration across legacy systems, documented difficiencies, software release cycles, etc... It is a never ending treadmill of issues.
I believe you have some good information but take off the D glasses for a minute and look at it from the angle of someone paying over 1400/year for menus that are sluggish, features that don't work and over the years more RBRs, calls to clueless CSRs, and more refurbished recievers than a customer should have to deal with.
But IMHO I think it is much more likely that for earlier versions of Hx recievers it will be disabled, or at least a menu option to disable it.
Otherwise I see it as ulikely to be fully operational since many have no internet connection to update it with or want to use media share. Heck I don't even want my recievers connected to a phone line.
No need to call home to mother IMHO for ANY reason.
If they're going to plug ahead with this contraption, then they should at least include all sports in it and not just the popular ones. It would be nice to keep up with golf tournaments, tennis, auto racing, etc.
My son and grandson saw the Scoreguide for the first time last week. They also saw MLB Network and now they are actively planning to ditch AT&T Vue and return to DirectTV.
I say, let's have it in ALL channels.
Sports on ScoreGuide will include: NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, top 25 college football and basketball, tennis (men's and women's Grand Slam event quarterfinals and later rounds), golf (PGA Tour majors) and next season, NASCAR®.
What do you want from me? I'm simply trying to help people deal with reality. I'm sorry that you're unhappy with your DirecTV service, but I really have no idea what you expect me to do about it.
Which reality...the one that shows this product sucks on the H20 and other non-DVR HD units?

I personally don't want anything but a receiver where the ALL D software runs correctly 99.9%. Got ANY of those laying around??? If so send out 4 to me at no charge but shipping.
That and the full truth not a one sided it's coming "sooner than you think" or "in the next software release" type of truth. Sorry but 9000 posts of "soon" or other such one line no detailed information posts give you limited to zero credibility on a forum...with me anyway.
Maybe you get to be a fly on the wall at the software review board meetings D has. I wish I was there to see what kind of crap they were going to try and "give" us next. But often the fly only gets what goes on in the room, not what takes place before or after the meeting where upper/middle management decides, often on a whim, how the $$$ get spent and collected. Or amoungst the programmers who really only put in what is asked for in EXPLICIT detail and what they want to see.
Lets be honest, like many things this was something already burried in an earlier software release that was just recently activated...was it not.
I show the latest download for my recievers to have taken place in January,14th 2009---4104 is the version number. So I guess soreguide arrived in that baseline, an earlier release, or magically appeared.
This feature (screwguide as I like to call it) just became active in the last few weeks when D threw the switch on their end and it immediately drew negitive feedback primarily from customers without HD-DVR capabilities. Probably a minority of overall subs both in HD and regular D service. I have no phone or internet connection to any of my recievers yet I have the problem so it must have been in that baseline or earlier.

I use you're service to WATCH regularly scheduled shows, movies and sports programming.
Not turn my TV into a PC or vice-versa.
Not to play games
Not to have enhanced services that you spend a bundle on and then end up having to give away to entice people to watch (RACEPASS, SUPERFAN, etc)
I'm tired of subsidising those $$$ efforts for services I don't use and I'm sure only a minority of D subs use. I mean really, do you sit around using the gamezone all day with the awesome power the H20 delivers or are you on a robust PC playing WOW?
If you read this far I'm sorry it has been one sided. I can see D's perspective of trying to chase or invent a hot application that will enhance the viewing pleasure of current subs and draw in 10s or 100s of thousands more.
But each step in that path has so far resulted in software errors that make basic viewing a chore and does use paying subs as the beta testers for Ds product. I feel we must be the only testers if such basic funtionality as menu guides not being usable or enter buttons not working are clearly missing and easily dicovered when a feature is added.

so far scoreguide sucks. it slows the receover down. and messes with the yellow button functions. i hate it and i dont use it nor want it. if they are going to put it there they need to make it defeatable.
Huge issue with the SD receiver D12. If you are tuned into a sports channel that uses the scoreguide and have the receiver set to autotune to another channel...GUESS WHAT it doesn't complete the auto tune. This is a huge glitch that needs to be addressed ASAP~!!!!!!!!!!!!
