I had moved an HR23-700 from one room to another, where an SD DVR had been (R16-300). It started having intermittent "searching for satellite in 2/signal 771 issues" from the get-go, mostly in the morning. And at this time, our main living room DVR (HR22-100) started having the same issues, mostly in the morning. They are both off a Zinwell WB68 switch connected to a Slimline 5 lnb dish.

We've tried a few small things (new coax to the HR23 from the wall being one) but the searching for signal is happening more frequently, so this morning I tried disconnecting the H23 from coax altogether to see if it resolved the signal on our HR22 in the living room. Coincidentally, within a few minutes the signal resolved and has been rock solid since.

I'd prefer to fix it myself this weekend vs wait for DTV service--could this mean I should upgrade the switch?

    Thanks for your help!

It does suggest swapping coax on the WB68's outputs might point to a defective port on the WB68.

Also it could be a power issue with your outlet. I have seen hot grounds and bad power cords mess up a multi switch. If the problem happened when you made the switch try changing it back and see if it goes away.

Be sure all your devices (connected to all sat coaxes) have proper ground and no skew between phases (usually half of outlets split between two phases). If it's unfamiliar for you - hire professional electrician.
