Due to my attendance at a wedding out of town; I was unable to set-up the HR21 until Saturday night. I exchaged my HR20 with the HR21; therefore the HR20 setup in my signature is equal to the HR21.

    Set Up Issues:
    1. I needed to run satellite setup to change from 3 LNB to 5 LNB.
    2. My zipcode was pre entered as 11111; therefore I changed to correct zip.
    3. After satellite setup; the remote had a horrible bounce( which it did not have during initial setup). I menu reset from the front panel because the remote was bouncing. After reset the remote returned to normal. I should mention, bounce was with both the Harmony and the HR21 remote. Side note: Harmony works perfectlywith the HR21 using the HR20 setup.
    4. My locals were not in the guide and I was receiving 771. I refreshed at D* website and my locals appeared.
I will follow up this post with issues I have encountered after set-up.

By the way....I tested the BBC's on channel 449 and they are good to go!

All of us experienced 1, 2 and 4 from your list.

I haven't seen any remote issues yet. In fact I think the remote is more responsive.

If your HR21 is like ours you'll see improvements after it's been up and running for a while. Definite speed increase.

I did not experience #4. I never had to do a refresh, all of my channels work.

Speed increase will be a welcomed improvement; I'm seeing slower channel changing than the HR20-700.

    I didn't have to do #1 (I receive the HD MPEG4 locals).

I suspect that after the 1st or 2nd update / CE's, a number of things may be fixed.

Since there are several "universal" issues reported that everyone has seen, and we're all running the first base cut at 0168, my guess is the install process will also improve with age soon.

    Middle...
I did not have #4 and my zip was pre-set to a California area (began with a 9 but I didn't record the whole thing).

I stand corrected then. I thought pretty much everyone was reporting that they had to re-run setup because the unit was set for 3lnb and zip of 11111. My bad.

That's how mine was, but once I did that, everything worked fine. No refresh needed.

    1. Yep
    2. Yep
    3. Nope (Harmony 880)
    4. I didn't even get that message. The HR21 wouldn't even let me go to my locals.

I'm still of the belief that these aren't really "issues" as we know that developers had their hands on the boxes before going out (literally. Gotta love black gloss :D ) and we were smart enough to go through whatever initial setups we had to do in order to make them "normal". I don't think that when these go into full production the customer will have these issues.

I had the same experience, and even tried the box refesh via the D*TV website. It didn't work either of the 2 times I tried.

Next, I called and did the automated reset via the D*TV 800# number (no humans involved), and baad-da-bing, they all came up fine and since.

I agree and we aren't your "average" user and we knew to re-run the setup.

    Most definitely

had slow tuning today.. reset the reciever, got to downloading guide, got stuck.. after some playing and a lot of reboots it seems it is seeing just enough of my SWM5 setup to switch to FTM, had to unhook OTA from input of diplexer to get it back.. seems WAY to sensitive to seeing FTM.. should never have seen it..
    setup:
    ant (diconnected now)...............................................................tv
    ........................................>diplexer>one cable(30')>diplexer>
    SWM legacy (1)..........................................................................sat1 in

    1) Can't do
    2) don't know, can't check
    3) don't know
    4) can do, but I doubt it would do any good right now. No HR21 yet. (snif)

    Cheers,
    Tom

I had no doubt that this group will have all the problems found and the programmers will have them all solved by the time my unit arrives and installed. :)

Here's to seeing 0x184 on the HR21 very soon! :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Tom, you should know by now that a comment like that from a mod will only fuel the fire for rumors.......

So I'll run with it. I heard we're getting 0x184 soon!!!!
