Tri-Nations is already half over.
So when a channel is uplinked, how long usually until it is live?
It takes from less than one day to never ...
I miss that too.........especially watching that poor guy tumble off the ski jump every week.
Wouldn't that be to the "Twelfth of Never?"
Since there was no mention on the Retailer Chat, I decided to bug my contact (could be same one) one more time, and I was told the same date.
I also heard that there was going to be some overflow available to Setanta, but not as much as "Setanta Extra". (My guess is that overflow would be available for anything that was not going to be shown later on the regular Setanta channel, but that's just a guess.)
I also continue to get the impression that Dish is underestimating the number of potential subscribers, so if everyone subscribes to Setanta on Dish, then maybe they will later make more overflow available.
Concerning the start date - remember that Dish likes to space things apart, and not have a lot of things happen at the same time. Also, the same engineers who work on adding the authorization code and Guide listings for HD RSNs are the ones who would be doing the same thing for Setanta. And, the people who write the Press Releases. And, the people who coach the CS reps about what is on the channels and how much they cost.
So, it seems that the spacing was:
HD RSNs and Birmingham -> Setanta -> National HD channels.
Probably any other niche and international channel additions will also be made at the beginning of August.
PS Don't forget - July 21st on ESPN-HD - David Beckham and L.A. Galaxy vs. Chelsea (so I guess that's Tom Cruise vs Madonna ?)
I can't wait!
Setanta Sports now appears on Dishnetwork's A la Carte list. Listed for $ 14.99 per month. Not sure if it is allready available to customers.
Here is the link:
Its not available yet, just called to check.

But, AFAIK, they don't carry any international matches live ...

All the highlights come on cricketplus (great channel for cricket buffs)
I read on setanta tv message board that it looks like Dish is going to have setanta from the 2nd of August till September on the free preview channel!!!
Let's HOPE so!!!
even better, I won't pay for it in month 1 then!
it doesnt seem to be on the al la carte page anymore, i hope this isnt bad news .......
Last week Dish Network had a link on the website under the al la carte link for Setanta at $14.99 a month. I called ITVN to cancel a unit I ordered from them for Setanta via boadband, and then called Dish who were unable to offer that package as "it did not exist". Within three days the website had been changed and Setanta removed from the search engine on the Dish website.
I am no longer able to get Setanta from ITVN without a significant cost and the customer service at Dish are apologetic but treat me like I am making the whole story up. Unfortunately It appears that the only resolution to watch the Rugby World cup and EPL this fall will be to discontinue my 8 years subscritption with Dish and get Direct Tv (I'm not A Rupert Murdoch fan after what he did to newspaper works in England).
If there are any Dish representatives out there can you give me an honest and straight answer, and not "maybe in the future" and that "yes, you are not crazy, someone did make a mistake on the website"....
I really hope this channel is ala cart because I couldn't give a fig for Soccer ETC.
The channel will be available on Dish Network at the beginning of August.
Both Dish and Setanta confirm this.
(There are also rumors that there will be a free preview starting August 2nd.)
It is also known that the customer service reps have not been briefed yet, and do not know what a "Setanta" is. It seems likely that the web site page was removed to prevent people from calling the phone reps before August and wasting their time.
If you want a confirmation, email Setanta using their customer service email on their web site for North America.
Setanta has confirmed August 1. No idea on the free preview.
