MGMHD is OAR. It's not "hit or miss" as Hoosier claims it is. Seldom if ever is something shown modified -- if it's 2.35, it's 2.35, not cropped to 1.85 like you often see on HBO. The only full-frame movies you see on there are old B&W films which were shot in 1.33 to begin with. They do take usually one commercial break of 1-2 minutes at some point during each film.

Sony Movie Channel started off on the wrong foot but has improved quite a bit, I have not seen a lot of films presented improperly on there over recent weeks. So far they are commercial free.

IMO MGMHD and HDNet are far and away the best movie channels in terms of presenting films properly you can find.

I don't like old movies so that means I'm a shill?

You must get paid by AMC, BBCA and TCM since you defend them...no? Sounds ridiculous, huh?

No! There should be NO bombardment. If it's not your cup of tea then say so and move on. There is absolutely no reason to bombard anyone who says they will watch the channel just because you don't like it.

<mod hat>Let me be clear. From this point on there will be zero chastising of any member who says they like and will watch this channel. You may give your reasons for liking or not liking the channel. You may post anything in support of your position. DO NOT post any judgments about other member’s choices.

The bickering and name calling is getting out of hand and not just in this thread. Discuss the topic and not each other!

It is a good idea to either quote (partially, if long) or make some reference to what you mean. It's not apparent who "he" is or what the channel is.

The on demand offering for this channel sounds interesting, especially if stuff is in 1080p.

That and I like to be able to see the titles of what I'm gonna watch...

I have found some watchable and good offerings on Shorts HD when, tuning in at different times. Yes just as well there has been some not to my liken as well but, that is what is cool about the 30 min. blocks of shorts you can get interested or tune back later to check on something else.On OAR for films I agree that HD Net Movies and MGM are great but, don,t for get on the premium side Showtime might not always have the top movies they are very good on OAR compared to any of the premiums.

This may be an oversimplification, but Shorts seems like the definition of a niche channel.

The PQ on some of these movies are down right dialup internet quality. Seriously we have to pay extra for this POS

Much like feature films, PQ can be part of the directors choice. Some films look real grainy by choice. Heck, there's plenty of crappy PQ BluRays out there...some are shot crappy.

Some of the animated shorts are beautiful.

Who pays more for it? It is an added channel to an existing tier that has not never gone up in price which a lot of people get free. So, no one is paying more for it.

You will get frustrated by the lack of guide data. It is kind of like playing the lottery right now.

However, you can check out the On Demand stuff to be selective.

My only concern about the channel right now is seeing how much new stuff comes each month. There are a ton of short films out there but what do they have access to?
