Software update question

    I have an HR34. I've been waiting for my software to upgrade to 0725 from 06db. Decided to force the upgrade but....

    when it upgraded it just reinstalled 06db.

    It's been out a few weeks now. Any idea why I'm not getting it.

    Seems to be no rhyme or reason to how the roll out of updates are streamed to us.
    I have waited for more than a month to get them.
    Once, the update changed numbers before I got the one I was waiting on.
    In fact a new one came out in the last couple of days .

    I would not force a download, there is no telling what you might get and how much problems you have from it.

    Edit: I just checked the Firmware Watcher site and you have the correct software.
    The version you mention is for the HR44s.

    My suggestion is to wait for the update, if DIRECTV wanted your receiver to have that version they would push it to you. Back about a year ago we had a lot of people that insisted on forcing updates and it turned out very bad for some of them. Have patience and you will get the update.

    You have to be up in the wee hours when it is stream. Not really worth it. Just wait.

    Or you can join the Cutting Edge Group here on this forum. And participate in testing and reporting issues on software before it is release.

    Software pushes are not just regionalized but box-specific. For example, I have two R15-300's. I have observed ONE of them get a software upgrade but the other one didn't get it for another week or two!! In addition, the MANUFACTURER makes a difference too. For example, a box with model number ending in -100 might not get an update but one with a model number ending in -300 might!

    In any event, if a software update isn't automatically pushed to a given receiver it can't be obtained by "forcing" a software download. If you do this you'll just get whatever software is current for your box.

    Basically, you cannot force a new version. Once your receiver has been authorized for a new version, it will download and install on its own. You just need to be patient.

    Basically, it's not that precisely how the FW update process is working ...

    It's just how it presenting to end users, who don't need to know all technical details.

    When it updates, it will likely be higher (using base16 numbering) than 725.

    Someone here said the plus 725 has been scratched I thought it was the version to look for ?

    Just be patient and wait. You'll get the newest version as soon as your Genie is authorized to get it.

    The software currently on your box is just fine. No need to worry about updates. They will happen when they happen.

    The newest that they are sending out whether that be 725 or something newer.

    Please don't bother trying to download the most recent FW, your receiver will get it when it's authorized. It's not worth the risks of getting something you didn't intent to get.

    This will all happen automatically, no user intervention needed.
