I swear, every day I open this forum, someone else has died. I feel like we are losing our history!!

    Rest in peace.

In his memory, please send me those "funny green pieces of paper with pictures of bearded men." I will send you a postcard from Puerto Rico.

Back in my early Seventies college radio days in New York (Queens College), I interviewed Soupy Sales during an SRO appearance and asked him what he thought about the "harder-edged" sitcoms becoming popular at the time, such as "All in the Family," where scripts dealt with sensitive subjects such as menopause and erectile dysfunction. He was adamant that some subjects simply don't mix with comedy. The sound bite we used on our news that day went something like this: "Well, you say that these things are a part of life. But constipation is a part of life, but that doesn't mean you do a half-hour show about it."

Of course, it seems that this is exactly what they do today. Sigh.

Met him in the early 90's for about an hour - a very funny guy and class act. RIP. :(

I didn't know he was still alive. Has he done anything in the last 20 years?

Mostly spot radio and TV appearances, as well as private function gigs...up until about 2001.

One funny guy. I seem to recall a bit he was doing where he got flashed off camera. His reaction was priceless.

Unfortunately, that is when you know you are starting to get old. You'll know you really are old when you discover that the most active part of your life is being studied by kids in history class and the people you read about in obituaries are mostly your age and younger.;)

Soupy Sales was already part of American cultural history. RIP

"OK Fang, let's go through the alphabet..."

    "A B C D E K"

    "No, that's an F"

    "A B C D E K"

"Fang, come on now, that's an F! Try again."

    "A B C D E K"

"Fang, what gives? Every time I show you an F you see K!"

One of the greats, for sure.
