Thanks hp. I will talk to this person. Is there any email? I thought email is a good option instead of calling.

    HP,

I tried the number several times over the last 4-5 days, but nobody picks up.

Can you find out (if you get a chance to talk) about these channels?
    -ET Now
-MTV India (already uplinked but still unavailable)
-Vijay (Tamil channel going off from directv 3/2)
-Pricing of World cup cricket 2011
    -Any additional channels like CNNIBN?

    Thanks

WASTE of 20 minutes. Call that number, some girl picked up the phone with standard answers for all above questions..."Not that I know of"...so basically no new channels or the person I talked had no information and was reading from DishNetwork website..I dont know why they hire them when all they do is read from website.

Did you try this number 303-723-3368 or the main number? I could not get the 3368 number at all.

So I heard PTC Punjabi was removed and no longer available in Canada, the company that owned the slots has rebranded to a generic Punjabi channel and from what I've been told, there are no plans for a PTC Punjabi re-launch in Canada. I wonder what the future for this channel is in the US?

I have both dish and directv...dish is what I have the HD and some international channels (not hindi and not available in directv)....directv i have just the hindi pack + basic package

I'm thinking of closing directv and adding the hindi pack to dish....am assuming willow cricket feed quality will be the same and free, courtesy hindi megapack.

NDTV is a good channel I will miss, but TimesNow is an OK alternative.

Is there anything that I need to know before making the decision.

    Thanks

Bro, I did the same. I had DirecttV and Dish for 3 years. Dish I only had Hindi Mega Pack and DirecttV I had HD Channels plus Hindi 1. After careful evaluation, I got rid of DirecttV as the only channel for Hindi 1 which was useful was NDTV 24*7. After what barkha dutt did , I lost faith in NDTV and wanted to get rid of it desparately as everytime I hear NDTV news, my blood used to boil.

I do admit, that Directtv has a better quality and I miss HD Quality of DirectTV but Dish HD has the same channels.

Timesnow is not as good as NDTV though.

Willow Quality in SD in Dish is better than Directtv.

Thanks for your reply. I will be closing directv in a couple of days.

I feel there is absolutely no value in keeping or going for directv from a south asian international lineup perspective. They lost that edge when willow/cricket became available with dish.

Maybe IPL and Cricket league will be the only exclusives to directv.
Since you had HD+hindi1 in directv, were you offered anything by retention when you wanted to cancel?
Did you have to send the receiver + remote back to directv? Did they send the free box through UPS/Fedex?
What did you do with the directv antenna?

Did you get any incentive when you added HD lineup to dish tv?

Actually, what I did first was Removed Dish NetWork Service by cancelling Hindi Package. I wanted to see, if I can survive without DishNetwork. In one week, I realized, I can not. I love those Hindi Channels. DishNetwork send me an e mail that if you want to come back, we will give you 500$ worth of saving offer. They will give me HD DVR Receiver, Free HD Dish Installation, Few Movie PPV Certificates (5 of them), Free STARZ for 3 months. So, I accepted the offer. (Plus 10$ off every month till next 12 months).

Then I called DirectTV and cancel their Hindi Package. I still wanted to compare DishHD and DirectTV HD.

I compared and didnt found much difference in regular channels such as TNT, NBC, FOX, CNN etc. I did found that DirectTV Sports Channels are little better. I compared then is Dish giving same channels as DirectTV in HD and they did. I had no more incentives left to keep DirectTV plus their customer service attitude is very bad. They know they are number 1 and hence they dont care. They did not offer me anything to keep DirectTV.

They asked me the reason and I told them, that they dont have enough International Channels.

They send me a box to send Receiver and Remote back to them within 30 business days.

I would be little upset with myself if World Cup get telecasted in HD in DirectTV and not in Dish but thats the chance I took. I hope I gambled it wisely.

    Thanks again.

I think if its HD on directv, it will be the same in dish too.

I cancelled directv service yesterday. The maximum they offered me was $5 off for 12 months. I said thanks but no thanks and cancelled it.

I will call up dish and take up worldcup and hindi megapack.

Curious to know if you took top 120 (200 or 250) or the Dish Advantage for the HD channels.

Dish 200. Dish 200 has same HD Channels that DirectTV Choice Extra Pack offers.

Dish 250 is good if you are soccer and history fan. If you are a movie fan than its better to get HD Movie pack for 10$ from Dishnetwork. I am not currently having it because, I have 3 month free STARZ package. And then Dish gave me HD DVR which is very good...where I can record few movies in HD from STARZ and then see it on my convenient time.

Dish 200 and Hindi Mega Pack for me. Bill comes about 100$ I think.
