I agree. I was an NFL ST subscriber for 12 years, and I actually DID cancel ST (not just hinting that I was considering it). I think they understand that some people have stayed with DTV primarily for ST. When they are finally ready to be done with it, it becomes much more tempting to jump. I could have saved a lot of money with FIOS, as well as getting stand-alone RedZone. DirecTV's excellent customer support (knowledgeable skilled reps, financial concessions, RedZone flexibility, etc.) was one of the two deciding factors for me. The other was Verizon's poor HD DVR, but I would have lived with it were it not for how well DTV treats their customers. In other words, retention got what they wanted: keeping a 13 year subscriber who doesn't constantly nag them for discounts. I totally understand the football fans here who are wondering why anyone would drop ST. I would have said the same thing for the first 10 years that I had it. But life changes. I still love football, but I enjoy my Sunday a lot more when I do other stuff too (especially when the weather is good). RZ is perfect for me: no commercials, variation of games, Andrew Siciliano's commentary, etc. Those that say it's "just highlights" probably aren't watching it regularly. 90% of it is live... they just jump around when things get boring. Yes, they miss a big play now and then, but I end up seeing a lot more of them than when I watched the game(s) of my choice on ST.
