Not 100% certain, but I think it's because those broadcast rights are also owned by the Dolan's "Cablevision" ? The others here will correct me on this if it's wrong.

You did, but I should have been born in Missouri, the "Show-Me State".

Here's an article in today's Buffalo News further confirming we out of marketers won't be getting MSG HD games:

"Two other services that carry Sabres games - Dish Network and Verizon FiOS - only carry MSG's standard definition or SD. FiOS has filed a "program access" complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to try and get the games from MSG's owner, Cablevision, in HD.

Additionally, the Sabres fans who have left the area and get the NHL Center Ice package won't be able to see them in HD."

It's sad the Buffalo News will just tell us what the NHL refuses to make public until after we've all paid.

BTW - I've sent a couple of e-mails to the Sabres demanding that they stop allowing themselves to be used as pawns in this stupid game. No response.

That's the sad truth, no they don't. It's ridiculous and it's very unfair, especially for non-Rangers fans that really should not be punished because of this.

And rangers fans outside New York should be punished............. I have nothing to do with websites or any other issues that are bothering Dolan or the other idiots who run the NHL, Versus or D*.....................

They don't care. I have no problem with Rangers fan beings punished, just like I don't care that Philly fans are punished. It's your management that causes your own headaches.

Sadly, the owners of the Devils, Islanders, and Sabres do business with these idiots - and for that they are to blame

I've called the NHL corporate office twice and no return calls. The PR guy I originally spoke to, wasn't even aware of it. He referred me to someone else and I had to leave messages. They don't seemed concerned enough to even call me back.

That's amazing...someone there wasn't aware of the issue. :nono2: Sad. I think that you're right about it; it doesn't affect the NY market and since (imo) the NHL is still mainly a regional sport, there's not much concern for CI customers.

Maybe the NHL is involved in the issue but if they are trying to get it resolved, we're not hearing about it.

I've pretty much had it with Bettman and the NHL. Between the MSGHD issue and now VS. I first thought no big deal, nhl net repeats 2hr version the next day. I just checked dvr for bruins vs caps and it's friggin montreal vs leafs. Which now means there's no guarantee they'll show the rangers vs devils on tuesday morning like I had anticipated. So it seems likely I'll miss the first tv contest between these 2 teams in 20 years. Thanks Bettman, keep up the great work buddy.

Unfortunately I'm stuck in 18 more months of D* contract. The best part is the ticker at bottom of nhl net screen on leafs habs game says Youre watching encore of bruins caps. They don't even know yet :hurah:

I'm sure the NHL must realize the less hockey I get, the more I'll watch other sports. Sorry for the rant. I also live in Phoenix...another dark area of the NHL.

Well... it is the Rangers organization, if they want to do something stupid that affects their fans, by all means it is what it is. But they shouldn't have that same affect on the Devils as well.

Ugh....the whole point of this pissing contest is for Dolan to retaliate to get his way. Since the NHL is not even aware of the impact of Dolan's actions, guess that strategy isn't very effective. This thing will never end.

Dolan is nuts. My in-laws in NJ have Dolan's Cablevision, and it's putrid.

Can you post a phone number for the NHL? I couldn't find one on their website.

Here was my reply from your first request. I was more careful in reading your request and had replied quicker last time. Also, I find it a bit odd that they don't have the phone # on the website. Are they afraid that we might call them?

With all of the talk about the Dolans, Cablevision and MSG I feel compelled to add that their relatives are gradually destroying the robust baseball franchise Dick Jacobs sold them in Cleveland...and maintenance of the ballpark can't be far behind.:(
