I could not agree more. I'm so ticked off about this.
why are you calling msg? tonight's issue has nothing to do with them. versus has exclusive rights. period. end of story.
Yeah, understand that about tonight's game. Calling MSG to complain about lack of MSG HD on NHL CI.
I am sure there are lots of people who have called and complained and it's still an issue. I pray these feeds come back, I like being able to watch the rivalry games, Devils-Flyers, Rangers-Flyers, you know the good ole fashioned teams going head to head.
For the second time, I tried to call Dan Schoenberg, the VP of Public Relations at MSG (212-465-6367). An admin person answered and then put on her supervisor, which was a women named Mandy that I spoke to in the past. She is aware of the MSG HD issue and says its a lot bigger issue then just the HD feeds, but couldn't really give me any other details.
She said they are getting a lot of calls and they are keeping a list of names & numbers. So I suggest everyone tries calling or emailing them to request MSG HD feeds be allowed on NHL CI. This is so frustrating!:flaiming

I called last week and talked to Dan. He was friendly and gave me an answer. He didn't go into details (about what exactly the problem is b/w the NHL and MSG) and I didn't ask. I would assume many people are now calling and that is why the calls are going to his secretary. Let's keep calling MSG and the NHL and D*. We have two issues here:
Issue 1. MSG HD/MSG+ HD feeds not being carried by NHL CI. This is an issue b/w the NHL and MSG. This issue affects the Rangers, Devils, Islanders, and Sabres home feed HD games on NHL CI. Please keep calling MSG and the NHL about this issue.
Issue 2. Versus not being carried on D*. This issue affects those wanting to watch any hockey game (or other event) that Versus carries. Please keep calling D* about this issue. I know comcrap is a major player in this case, but I don't think any of us are calling them. I know D* wants to protect it's customers from further price increases, but why not put the channel on during negotiations, at least for a while? No idea if D* has asked to do this or not or if comcrap isn't allowing this.
I am very PO'd to be missing Rangers games that I am paying good money for each season.

I'll just add one thing to this. If you call the NHL, you need to complain to them about both MSG HD and VS. If you call MSG, don't complain to them about VS. Mandy mentioned that they are getting a lot of calls about VS and they have nothing to do with that channel.
My other thought is we might need to start calling or emailing our NHL teams to complain about lack of games in HD on NHL CI. Especially for the teams that are broadcast on MSG: Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres. Hopefully, they will start putting some pressure on the NHL, if we complain to them.
I was checking the Thursday schedule on my DVR and they are listing 2 HD games for both the Rangers 776-1, 777-1 and Devils 778-1, 779-1. The Sabres game only show the Coyotes HD feed on 771-1 and the Islanders game has no HD coverage. Don't know if its real -or- if they will blackout the MSG HD feeds, even though it shows in the guide. Its cruel, but the second scenario happened many times last year.
i just checked mine, i am seeing 1 HD feed for sabres, one for devils, one for rangers, and none for islanders. if i had to guess i would say we will see the capitals HD feed, coyotes, and lightning.
When I checked a couple days ago, thats what I was showing. Today, it does show 2 HD feeds for both the Rangers 776-1, 777-1 and Devils 778-1, 779-1. Anyone else see this in their guide?
That's what it says in the guide on the DVR, but as you yourself said, we've been fooled before.
I understand, just curious if anyone else was seeing this, since psuscott0483 wasn't.
This thread has been going for a while, so I thought I would repost my experience with this issue last season (February I think). I emailed the Devils (my favorite team) about the MSG HD issue. They got me in touch with a NHL Media VP who was nice enough to call me on the phone. He said the issue was exactly the same as the issue that kept Altitude HD off of CI back when D* first added it. He said Center Ice had to make a separate contract with every HD channel to put it in the package and that it was handled differently than SD feeds. So I don't think it has anything to do with the website issue since that was solved in court a while ago now and it is just about good old fashioned money. IMO, the NHL and MSG are both to blame and the NHL could make things a lot nicer for NHL CI customers by using Canadian HD feeds and feeds we know they have used in the past like Comcast Philadelphia where applicable to offset the loss of MSG HD but they are too cheap. I'd swear Bettman said in the past that HD would cure all of hockey's TV ratings woes but apparently he is too cheap to actually pay for it.
Thanks for posting this again, I must have missed it in February. I have to admit, what you were told makes perfect sense. Its about the money. The Dolan's are asking too much or the NHL is too cheap to pay the going rate.
I will repeat that the guide on your DVR/receiver means absolutely nothing until the game starts. Why? I don't know. Perhaps they subscribe to a service which automatically gives them the listings and then they have to correct them before gametime.
Let's face it. the NHL is the bottom of the barrel of the 4 major sports and we hockey fans are the last to be considered. Thus it has always been. Thus it shall always be......unless we move to Canada. But I am really getting steamed that we are having a decrease in HD availability rather than an increase.
Dan said that MSG HD would not be part of NHL CI this year. I posted this last week after I called MSG.
We've seen lots of games listed as being in HD several days before the game occurs only to see the HD feeds removed the day of the game. Don't get excited guys when you see and HD feed of a Rangers, Islanders, Devils, or Sabres game any time soon.. we know D* will change the guide before the game starts.
We need to keep pressing MSG, NHL, and D* about the various issues.. remember what issues each is responsible for. Keep calling them. Emailing seems to do nothing as MSG and NHL don't answer emails.
