...and what have the Dolans won? They are fighting with the NHL but...why? We don't even know the deeper issues.

I see it this way, the Dolans, Cablevision, Bettman, the NHL, Clarence Campbell in the grave, Directv, Comcast, Bill "The Miser" Wirtz, Time Warner, and Dish Network are all having a lot of fun fighting with each other over power and dominance and the NHL fan loses.

I don't like the Rangers, Devils, Islanders or Sabres...okay maybe the Sabres a bit....I don't have the option to get Cablevision where I live. How does this make any sense?

WHO gets the money we pay D* or any other carrier for NHLCI? The league? the league and individual networks? The league, networks and carriers?

If a team based outside the metropolitan NYC area or Buffalo broadcasts a game against the Rangers, Devils, Islanders or Sabres in HD, what contractual obligations mandate CI solely offering the SD version presented by MSG?

There are none. HD feeds of opposing teams are available on NHLCI. The upcoming Rangers vs. Capitals game is available in SD from MSG and SD and HD from Comcast SportsNet.

Isn't it more plausible that MSG HD could return at any point where agreement is reached between MSG and the NHL? Clearly there is no long ramp-up to bring HD back. I am still hopeful that it will happen, thus we need to keep collective pressure on the NHL, including calling in to NHL Live when Bettman again hosts the show.

Won't get my hopes up to high. They have shown up on the guide before and we have not gotten them. Let's hope it works out different this time. :joy:

Interesting guide data, but I think the DirecTV schedule shows us what it will really be.

As NJ said, our best hope is to be like the persistent widow and keep up the pressure. Eventually people will get tired of hearing about it and cave.

This link took me directly to this year's schedule on DTV: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=1800012&page=Packages/NHLCenterIce

Put in your zip for blackout purposes and you will see clearly that any Thursday HD feeds involving teams on MSG will be their opponents' feed, not the msg-hd feed.

As for Comcast Philadelphia, The Penguins are scheduled to play the Flyers in Philadelphia and the Coyotes at home. Won't that be awesome? So, who knows what to expect.

Thats last years link that doesn't format properly. The link that I posted the other day now goes right to the 2009 schedule and formats properly, so you can see both SD and HD channels.

    Lancaster,...
I just talked a woman in PR at MSG and she said that the NHL and MSG are still in negotiations to bring MSG HD back to NHL Center Ice. Nothing really new that we didn't already knew, but at least she said that which seems to bring back a little glimmer of hope.

Please keep calling the NHL (212-789-2000) and MSG (212-465-6367). Demand that an agreement be reached and that MSG HD be put back on NHL CI. We deserve to see our favorite NHL teams in HD when we pay for NHL CI.

The MSG number is for Dan Schoenberg, but he may not be the right person to ask but that is the only number we have.

If you are willing to call a few times per week, please do that, as that is what I have been doing recently. Maybe they need to know that their fans are PO'd and want action now.

Thanks for posting the ph #'s. Can't hurt. I'll be calling tomorrow when business opens on the east coast.

I'm a long-time MSG viewer since the C-Band days and have missed the HD feeds big-time. Over on the other forum, a member posted this:

If he had to choose between having all of the MSG HD feeds vs (no joke intended) having Vs available, he'd choose the MSG HD feeds. That would be my choice as well. I wonder how the rest of the NHL fans here would vote on this?

For the regular season absolutely I would rather have the HD feeds from the 4 NY teams than VS ...but come playoff time obviously the reverse will be true and I will be very very angry if we are still in this stalemate

Yeah....playoffs and Vs.....I was dreaming about getting those MSG HD feeds back and forgot about next spring. Maybe we'll get Vs back by that time.

I might have to cave in and watch the other team's HD feeds on Thu night when the Devils & Rangers are playing. From the DTV CI sch, it looks like the Isles/Senators have only 1 feed available in SD. :nono2:

I'm with you, but exclusivity aside, I think MSG will be of little use for any of us come playoff time. I know you can never count the Devils out, but things don't look good this year for any of the 4 teams on MSG.

Actually, I was not aware they were at least in negotiations. I thought the NHL was barely even aware, let alone talking with them about it. Anything we can do, besides calling, to get them back ASAP let us know. Most of us diehards around here are willing to do about anything if it means getting our teams back in HD:sure:

What a surprise... the HD feeds of MSG have dissapeared from the guide this morning. At least they didn't lead us on until game time, only to get a 722 error. For the Sabres, the MSG SD feed on 772 is also MIA today.

Yep. I noticed that too this morning. (rant on)The guide is really getting annoying. You really have no way of scheduling recording in advance.. Hell, half of the time some of the NHL channel guide data shows upcoming PPV movies....(rant off). I thought the HD feeds showing up were too good to be true anyway...

I've been noticing all week that the Sabres game on Saturday isn't listed at all on the schedule. Not any feed, not SD - nothing. I can't recall a time when I havent' at least been able to find at least some broadcast of their game, somewhere on TV. Hope something shows up int he next 2 days.

Is there some bigger issue at play where MSG and even Sabres SD broadcasts are in jeopardy?

I saw it listed on Ch 772 about a week ago, but its gone now. Also, the online schedule shows that the Sabres feed will be on 772. I'm going to watch the Coyotes HD feed, but hope to listen to RJ. Hopefully they will have the real 16:9 HD, since last year they sometimes had the 4:3 HD up-convert.
