Did everybody lose the HD feed for tonight's games against the Leafs? I still have it showing in my "To Do" list for recording (774-1), but it is now missing in my NHLCI guide?

keep an eye on that link the feed will go up soon.

msg is only hurting themselves with this. anyone in media should know you want to reach as many people as possible. by not allowing HD feed to all the center ice subscribers, they should realize a lot of them are going to watch the other teams feed in HD.

I wonder if DTV's CI sch (ch 776) is incorrect as they're listing the Rangers gm tonight as starting at 10ET instead of 8ET. According to ESPN's NHL sch, KSTC in Minn is carrying the gm at 8ET.

Looks like the online schedule is wrong. The guide shows the game starting at 7 PM CT.

What's weird is that it is missing from my HR20-100, but does show on my HR20-700?

Here is the answer I got from the NHL. Totally useless.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for you’re your email. For technical reasons such as bandwidth and channel capacity, one provider may choose to air both feeds of a game and games in HD, while another one may not air the same amount of feeds or games in HD. This is at the discretion of each cable/satellite provider and it can vary across NHL Center Ice distributors and even individual systems of a distributor.

In addition, please be aware that for a variety of reasons, not all HD game feeds (including, for example the ones from MSG) are available for use in NHL Center Ice across all NHL Center Ice distributors. The NHL does attempt to provide either the home or the away HD feed of as many games as possible. So, even if the MSG HD home feed is not made available by your cable/satellite provider, still check to see if the visiting HD game feed is available.

Please note that our schedule is subject to change, and we will make HD feeds available as much as possible in the future.

Thank you for your continued support of the NHL and Center Ice.

    Lancaster,...
I was listening to the show when I called in (about 4:30pm) but I must have just missed your call. I didn't hear any mention of MSG HD on the 2nd half of the show. Hopefully, someone else can relay what his response was.

I keep getting a blanket reply from the NHL about HD feeds and the lack of capacity... I keep writing back that D* already shows MSG HD feeds 24/7 to anyone in the USA with Sportspack and they actually turn off the feed at game time. No capacity issues there. Of course, the NHL doesn't reply to that.

I'll try calling in next week to continue to express my feelings on the MSG HD issue.

Thanks PSUSCOTT0483 for the link to the podcast. I finally listened to it, and the reply to my question had the usual generic 'we know about the issue and are working on it', plus a new wrinkle, where Gary alluded to there being an issue with MSG HD not being delivered by satellite. I don't know if he's trying to tie this into the terrestrial loophole being used by the Flyers, or is confused bewteeen the two. As far as I know, MSG HD is delivered by satellite, since you can see replays of games and Rangers in 60 in HD.
If anyone has any different information in this regard, please share. The saga and sadness continues.

The games are on satellite just fine, people in the NYC DMA get the HD feed on DirecTV, its just the NHLCI peeps outside of that DMA

This is just a guess, but I think what he might have meant is that the MSG HD signal isn't delivered to providers by satellite, so not every provider could get it if it was not on satellite, like cable companys. From what I've heard, MSG HD is delivered to D* via fiber.

Well Mr Bettman, if there is this so called problem with the delivery of the MSG HD signal how in the hell does Directv currently get MSG HD for the Knicks games?(not to mention that Directv had MSG HD for a short time last year).

Quit playing us for fools. Get this website problem corrected with the Dolans and give us back the MSG HD.

The HD feed is delivered to D* by MSG a via fiber optic cable, not satellite. Then its re-transmitted by D* to its customers via satellite.

I watched the HD MSG broadcast of the Knicks game with the NBA free view. If the NBA can use the HD MSG broadcasts , then the problem is with the NHL.

I think the problem is that Bettman is a stubborn man and would rather fight with the Dolans to prove he is the top dog instead of making a deal.

The best way to get Bettman to do something is get the writers and bloggers writing about the NHLCI. If you can them to ask these questions -

How many subs does it have ? How does that compare to MLB or NBA ?

How many subs have dropped the pkg in the last two years and why ?

If HD is the future of the NHL , why no HD Canadian or MSG HD feeds with NHLCI ?

Bettman has made it very easy to get some feed back, if you register for one NHL team forum , you now have access to every one.

Just ask the members of every forum if they sub to the NHLCI . If not- why they don't sub to NHLCI ? So if the team's owner or employee read their forum they have idea of much money they are not getting because fans are not subbing to the NHLCI.

Thanksgiving saturday 1965, The Rangers lost to the Hawks 1-0. Glenn Hall, was incredible and made 47 stops, and the only reason the Rangers lost was a Ken Wharram PP goal with about 5 minutes left. I was at the game, it was notable because it was the first game broadcast in color. We had a color TV but I could not see the game on TV there were no DVRs and no home VCRs, it was shown tape delayed in Chicago and in Detroit. Although I did not see the game on TV I can guarantee that the PQ was better than the PQ in last night's Rangers Wild game.

I totally agree with you. Last night's MSG2 feed was probably the worst picture quality of a game that I have ever seen. I can also tell you that it was just as bad on Cablevision here on LI and they are the ones who own MSG. Therefore this is not a DirecTV issue.

i don't think it is much of a priority for the NHL it took almost two months to get this canned reply.
