I have my 2 new UTV's set for install on Friday. Currently have DISH and they keep calling about my contract termination (at end of month).

My questions is should I definitely move forward with the change to D* and UTV? I can still return them but I really don't want to, especially since it only cost me $150. Unfortunately, all I keep seeing/reading on various boards is how UTV is no more, etc. I know merger is unknown but likely, yet we don't know its impact.

Not looking for speculation, just wondering if anyone has read definitive answers that can tell me to keep my UTV or pay the extra bucks to E* when they offer me a great deal to stay on board (currently Lease Plan with (2) 301's and want (2) PVR's). I know E* will probably do it - but I also know it won't be as good pricewise and featurewise as what I got with UTV.

You won't find a lot of people who are disappointed with Directv's PVRs (both UTV and DirecTivo). The UTV kicks the 501's butt. The dual-tuner feature alone is worth the switch. I would keep the UTVs.

E* has sort of pledged to keep everyone at the same level of service they are currently receiving and not charge for new equipment.

While the UTV is going out of production, the units work perfectly and it is a shame the MS has decided to go into a support mode rather than a production mode. So while no new UTV units are being produced, the current level of service is worth the $9.95 per month that UTV charges, IMHO.

Once you get used to the dual-tuners, you'll be hooked.
