And in particular related to it's age I guess, it was not designed with an ethernet port, so no MRV capability either ...

I emailed Directv regarding the addition of Antenna TV (22-3 in Seattle) to the channel list, which should be easy to accomplish because it already shows up in zap2it.com. The response I received was some form letter which said that I could only receive ATSC channels on the AM21, not NTSC. This indicates that whoever read my message had no idea what I was talking about

I replied but don't know if it will do any good, although I suspect that if enough people contact them it will eventually show up. There are several other local OTA channels which I can get on my TV's tuner but not on the AM21, but I didn't mention them since I never watch any of them.

The HR20-700's came out in late summer of 06 and yes they have ethernet port. Just no 3D support with them is all but a must have for those that like OTA scanning :)

This is an old argument, scanning vs. the AM21's method of relying on a table. Over the years we haven't really been able to figure out why AM21s and HR20s don't just use PSIP data, but the bottom line is that's unlikely to change.

The post you referenced was regarding the H20, not the HR20.

When I visit my parents (they have Time Warner) it's always fun to check out what's on some of the subchannels. The retro tv stations are pretty cool - at christmas I got to watch an episode of Adam 12 featuring a big gang fight! Oh, and Kojak!

Fun, but not worth paying extra for.

Do you need to hook an antenna to the AMD21 or is it an antenna? Does it need installation?

It's an AM21, not AMD21, and use it needs an OTA antenna connected to it.

The actual AM21 install is easy, pull the power cord from the receiver, connect the USB cable that comes with the AM21 to the receiver, connect the attached power cord on the AM21 to the receiver and then plug in the old power cord from the receiver to the AM21. When the DirecTV receiver comes up go through the antenna setup and you're done.

One would think that it would be very easy to get Antenna TV's schedule added to KTLA's DirecTV listing. KTLA is owned by Tribune, which also owns Tribune Media Services.

Yes, but Directv needs to enable it. My first email to them regarding my local Antenna TV subchannel was probably misunderstood, but when I sent another email today, I got an immediate response saying that it was being forwarded to the area which handles such things. I recall that in the past it often took several days for a new subchannel to be added to the OTA list.

About a month ago , I knew that Antenna TV was going to be added to a subchannel to a station I receive via OTA using the AM21. I emailed Directv , the Station , and Tribune to make the change . Tribune changed the Zapit listings the next day. The station stated they emailed Directv about this. Directv response was that they don't offer subchannels . So for now , I found another zip code that carried the station number (61.2) in the AM21 lisitngs. I entered it as a secondary local in the AM21 setup . So now I receive the station , but the guide data is for the "other" 61.2 . So I guess for now if you can find another market with the same sub-channel (5.3 , 7.2 , ect) you can get the channel but not the correct guide data.

To help understand , I want 61.2 (06106 , Hartford , Ct) its not in the system
So instead I entered 10050 (Nj,NY,PA market) in the secondary local setup and that market had a 61.2 available and it worked , hope this helps for now.

This is the person that Ive emailed in the past and she has always replied back to me to let me know the status and to keep her posted to see if data was added to directv guides.

include market name, channel #s (digital number and remapped number) station name, I also included stations phone number and address.

    Also listings@zap2it.com
this is another one she gave me to email also.

The HR20 series DVRs do not do off the air channel scanning either, though with it's STB predecessor labeled the "H20," I can understand why some looking back at the model number history may logically think so.

before any of you get sub channels, how about waiting for the rest of us getting the rest of our main locals and PBS? :(

    Late to the party here...

At 40 miles west of Chicago, I see four subchanneles for WTTW 11. All come in clear here using my UHF barbecue grill antenna...

I get four on my antenna as well, but only one via D*, whereas you can get two subchannels for 56 on D* although here in the far north burbs I can't get 56 at all via OTA.

That antenna won't work for me (it's UHF with maybe high VHF thrown in). We have two channels using ch 7 and ch 8. I'm only about 9 miles from the towers, but there's a hill in between. So I have a Winegard 7084p on my roof. It seems like overkill, but I need the directionality to help eliminate multipath.
