Sunday Ticket: $200, ST MAX $300

    When you assume that the CSR is going to screw up your account...including your distants...and get fired from their 50 cent an hour job without having even spoken to them solely because you believe that they are foregin

    That is xenophobic.

    When you believe that lack of knowledge of the location of Wisconsin...which must certainly be the case if you are foreign...makes you an inferior CSR.

    That is xenophobic.

    When you believe that merely having the option to subscribe to DirecTV...whether you do or not...makes you a better DirecTV CSR because that means you are NOT foreign.

    That is xenophobic.

    Now resenting the idea that DirecTV is outsourcing jobs away from Americans is a valid position.

    And when you work as a CSR whose livelihood is threatened by the outsourcing of those types of jobs you have a valid point and perspective.

    I do not support the outsourcing of jobs to overseas. The Americans they fail to employ might be Americans who would buy their product if they had a better job. But that is another subject.

    But to dismiss someone as being an inferior CSR solely because they are foreign is xenophobic, and if you don't even speak to this person before you dismiss them as inferior and hang up solely because you believe they are foreign that is xenophobic.

    If you really want to make a statement to DirecTV about not supporting their outsourcing, hanging up on the overseas call center isn't the way to do it. Switching to Dish or Comcast is.

    I'm sorry, but I don't have time to spend repeating myself because the foreign speaking CS rep can't even understand what I am saying and I can't understand what they are saying. If we can't communicate effectively, how can we possibly conduct business? This has nothing to do with xenophobia. All I want is to speak to someone competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. If a CS rep can't provide that I will call back and find one that will.

    Well, I figured Saturday nights are usually a good time to call to get the nicest retention reps, and it looks like I was right again. I got Kyle, and he turned out to be a huge help...he was trying to give me credits and a discount off the ST MAX, but none of the discounts were showing up...he finally figured out just before I was going to agree to only 12 months of 20 off if i got ST MAX at reg price, that none of the discounts were showing up because for some reason I still had the 2011 ST on there (?) but thats what he said. Anyway, he got his supervisor to remove that, then an offer showed up where he could give me ST MAX for FREE if i signed up for a one year agreement (i am not on one right now)...AND he could still give me the 20 a month for 12 month general credit...so I basically jumped on it and made sure it was on my account before he hung up...so he added ST and the agreement and the credit, and then added on the MAX part for free as well. So I basically got ST MAX for negative 240 dollars...and its really more because the 20 per month also credits tax and there was no charge for ST MAX...and I dont care about the one year agreement because i have no plans at all of going back to Time Warner or leaving D. So now I am good for about 3 or 4 months before i have to call and grovel for NHL CI...lol.

    Edit: after reading the last few pages, it appears everyone else, almost, got the same deal with free ST and year extension, but not many getting deals on the MAX part...we will see if mine sticks at free.

    I just want to take a moment to apologize for going way off topic and especially if I offended anyone. This is a great community and I'm sure I could sit down and enjoy a beer and a conversation with each and every one of you.

    My point was, there are a lot of capable and amazing people out there all over the world. Granted, there are a lot of losers too.

    But if you dismiss people based on what they are, you'll never know who they are and sometimes that is an opportunity missed.

    I read each of the complaints differently. I think there are a lot of assumptions in your response.

    But it's still beyond the scope of this board to get any deeper into it.

    Hey so I think this thread is not helping one anymore... Can people say what deals they got =] like I said I got max for $200 and $48 for six months of credits =]

    i just posted the deal i got three posts back....and i am really shocked that the mods didnt pull all of this arguing crap about foreign CSRs..its all completely off topic.

    Personally, I found your observation to be spot on and you have nothing to apologize for.

    That said, the thread is about Sunday Ticket not non-American call center employees.

    8 weeks?? They do come fast nowadays. But the regular season will be the real test for ST not the pre-season...

    They don't even show the pre-season on ST. In what way will the regular season be a test, been watching it for years, same old ST.

    Wow, did I just get a deal. Sunday Ticket, Home Media Center DVR, Whole Home Upgrade, Installation All for $99. Saved over $560! It pays so well to get to the Retention Center and talk nice with the rep.

    I called in a day or so ago in reference to a discount for the NFL Sunday Ticket and they wouldn't give me anything. My second year contract is up in July. I guess I have too many credits already on the account and they won't give me anything else which sucks, especially with all these deals lots of other people are getting. I did talk to the retention department, always do.

    Tried retention agent and her first offer was $199 for NFL ST and $40 for NFL Max for ($239 total, $60 discount). Asked if she could add any credits. Said I wasn't currently eligible, which I can believe. A few months ago I was able to get an HR34, WHDVR and CCK for no upfront money or installation cost. And I'm still getting the $10/mo HD credit.

    Next, I asked about a 1 time payment. She offered me NFL ST @ $99 and Max for $100, so basically Max for free. I told her that Max wasn't worth double the cost of NFL ST, so I asked if she could give me just ST for $99, no Max? She was able to do that and I'm happy once again.
