One call to Retentions and I got non-Max for $99. I'm out of contract and they promised there was no extension. My preference was free with a 1-year extension but I couldn't negotiate that one. Still, I'm very happy with $99. That gets me 4 months of NFL. HBO for 4 months is $64, so $99 seems fair to me.

They are morons. I tried to get a discount from a CSR with a Russian accent and he barely even know what the NFL ST was.......recited some script then said that it was included but I know it isn't.

    The CSRs are getting worse.

That's why when you call Directv say Cancel Service twice and that should get you to the retention department where they have English speaking people who are able to do more than the usual CSR who are working in some call center in places like the Philippines or Mexico.

I don't think the accent have anything to do to where they are located, and their abilities to manipulate the accounts..
They have the same information and same software as CSRs here.
I think as long as you ask nicely and make them know that you have options besides DTv, they will give you a good deal..
I told them all I needed was redzone channel for $10 bucks a month on Dish

    Just made these calls.
1st: Asked for ST and stand alone RZC for $99. She said she couldn't find that offer, but offered ST and MAX for $147. I declined, then canceled the auto-renew thing, real friendly like.

2nd: Asked for the same thing, she offered MAX and ST for $100 with a 12 mo. contract extension. I jumped.

Originally, they offered $199 for ST and MAX. I took it. I read your post, called back and they knocked $50 off. Thanks!

    Longwood,...
I saw NFLST Max Auto Renew on my bill today. Didn't want Max. Just want to see all Eagles games and some good match ups not national. Didn't really watch Red Zone much last year either. Called today to get Max taken off. CSR gave me standard ST for $25 total after discounts. Pretty happy again. Got what I wanted. Love D*!

1980 - did you talk to a US-based CSR? The offshore CSRs just don't seem to understand what I'm asking for and keep pitching HBO/Cinemax for $15.

So I already got ST basic for $199 and a $199 credit and I just.called in and tried to add max and get to retention but it only allowed me to say cancel 1 time and then transferred me to a regular CSR. This is the 3 rd time thats happened and not let me get to retention. Anyway the CSR was great though she tried to sell me in 4 payments of $25 and I said no. She then offered 4 payments of $10 and 6 months of a $5 credit. Not a bad deal so I end up with ST and max for a total of $10. I love direct tv

Just noticed on the "my sports" page it has ST max for $10. Not 4 payments of $10.

I assume so. No accent. All I really wanted to do was un- renew MAX. I said I would call back closer to the season to see if there were any deals on just ST and she quickly said we have deals now lets see what can be done. Boom. After credits ($10 x 12) my cost ($149.94) was reduced to $29.94. So I was in error on my original post. I thought it was $24 x 6, but it was $24.99. I never expected them to be so quick to discount.

It will probably still be 4 payments. I have MLBEI on "my sports" and it just says $34.99 but I've been getting charged monthly for it.

I just called in and got ST (don't want MAX for 100 dollars) for free along with a 20 dollar monthly credit for 12 months. All it too was a 12 month commitment which I was happy to agree to as I've been with D since '99 and don't plan to cancel any time soon. All in all a good deal. 439 bucks for a 5 minute phone call.

Does anyone else see this on their account?

I haven't called or anything. I had ST last year, but it looks like they are renewing me. Is there supposed to be a price?

I don't want to call and have them remove it if its going to renew for free, but I also don't want to be billed the full price.

    Thanks!

It will not renew for free. That just lets you know you will be renewed.

My God the CSRs are a trainwreck. First time I get Russian guy that has no idea what football even is. Now I get some chick who sounded reasonable at first but put me on hold for 15 minutes trying to figure it out then offered me $50 off and said that was the max she could do, then had to put me on hold again because she said she "did something to her computer and wasn't sure what"

They should give people the NFLST for free just for putting up with their epic levels of stupidity.

The thing that really sucks is that there are only 2 games in conflict that I even need the NFLST for. I've got 1 year left and will probably jump ship at that point so I can get only the red zone for much cheaper. With the Thursday games, Sunday night, Monday night, 12/3 games that don't conflict, etc I really only need the red zone but DTV forces you to pay $300 just to get it when other providers don't.

As always, they are 1-2 years behind when it comes to being decent to their customers. First it was screwing people for HD, now this.

You can get the RedZone channel for free from Directv. Just say 'cancel service' at the voice prompts. Get to retention and ask them for it.

Last I checked, Directv is a publicly traded company....they aren't trying to screw anyone over.....they are trying to make the most profit they can for their shareholders. Switch to Dish if you think you are getting screwed. Directv is in the business of making money. That's life, deal with it.

I was calling in trying to get just that and she said she couldn't do it. I could have called back again but dealing with moron CSRs a 3rd time doesn't sound appealing, either.

I'll most likely be switching once my contract is done in a year. Either that or DTV had better make the red zone free next season like they did with HD.
