Called today and did the "terminate service" at the prompt. It did not ask if I was moving and directly connected me to someone.

Best she could do for me is

    - ST MAX - 6 payments of 38.99
    - $10 off my bill for 6 months.

I asked if she worked in retention and she said yes. Told her that I heard some folks were getting it for free and she said that was only new customers. Told her that I heard some long time customers were getting it for free and she said that wasn't the case. Guess I will try again another time. I've been a DTV customer for over 15 years.... If anyone has any tips or advice, I welcome it.

For sure try again later. Based on what she said, I have no faith that she worked in retention. If the voice automated system does not say anything else after you say cancel, you are not getting transferred to retention.

Called again. Tried to offer me the same deal. I asked to be transferred to retention....and that did the trick.

    - Free NFL ST + Red Zone
    - $20 off for 12 months
    - $15 off for 15 months

    (1 year agreement)

Just called up and talked to "Drew", who I think was in retentions, but I didn't validate. I did do the cancel / cancel at the prompts when I called in.

I asked for any specials on ST and he came back and said, "we can give that to you for free this season". I had to agree to a year commitment, but given that my current commitment doesn't end until Aug 2014 (due to adding a free receiver last Aug) it didn't change that at all.

I didn't ask for anything else -- couldn't really argue for getting the package for $0, and already have a $20/mo for 12 months still ongoing and I think still a $10/6 month too.

For reference, I've been with them for 4 1/2, have MLBEI, only had ST once (back in 2011) and I don't subscribe to any premium channels.

I'm a happy customer. :righton: Just got Sunday Ticket Max for free, $15 credit for 15 months, Four $5 dollar credits for 6 months each, a $75 credit, and Free Genie 5 Tuner HD-DVR. Had to pay $99 for the Genie Go Box and renew my contract for 24 months because of the Free Genie.

    Thanks DTV.

EDIT: I called back to ask for the AM21 OTA Tuner to pair with the Genie and they are providing it at no cost.

So I've been with Direct TV for a little over 4 years now had ST for the first 2 years then decided the cost just wasn't worth it. Seeing all the good deals everyone is getting I'm wondering if I may have missed out! Just last week I called and got a free genie upgrade along with all my receivers upgraded to mini genies (4 total) and $35 off per month for 15 months. I didn't even think to ask for a deal on ST. Would I have zero chance of gettin something if I call back this week using the cancel cancel option again and asking for a deal in ST?

I took a ST Max deal for $179 (split into six payments). I'm out of contract and did not have to take a year on.

I would have preferred a one time payment but could not. I guess they want me to get used paying a higher bill all the time.

Answered my own question... Just got off the phone with D* expressed my displeasure with not being offered ST for free when I signed up for another 2 year contract. Rep was awesome and Hooke me up with ST max for free... Good 5 minutes spent on the phone!

Good deal. I didn't see a reason not to call back and try. Glad it worked out.

Out of curiosity, what does everyones deal look like on their programming summary on DirecTV's website? Mine shows NFLST Max upgrade at the $40 price I got for it. JUst checking to make sure I have the right thing on my account and that I'll be good to go when the season starts. It looks like the pic below.

I went ahead and called and they confirmed I am getting NFLST Max for $40. I guess mine just looks different for some reason. Maybe it's because of the deal I got. IDK. Either way. I'm good. :righton: Thanks for the replies guys.

Pretty sure I got credited $224.95 on my account for the NFL Sunday Ticket. I had just gotten DIRECTV when the Ultimate had the MLB Extra Innings for free, so I got it. Services were installed the very next day, I go to directv.com and then see they were offering the MLB Extra Innings AND NFL Sunday Ticket for free and I was livid, missing it by one night. So, they worked with me and were able to add it since it was so close.

How many other tuners besides the 5 were you going to have? I have 15 tuners and have a slimline 5 with a SWM 16 under the house.

So that is 5 tuners plus the HR34 or HR44 for a total of 10. You need a SWM 16 anyways. I wonder why he wanted to change the dish. Were you planning to keep all those receivers or drop to 8 or less tuners? If so, you could just go with a SWM LNB instead. Really depends on what you were planning to keep active on the account.
