I called and the best they would offer me was to spread the payments over 6 months instead of 5. I said no thanks and called right back. I got the ST max for half off and credits totally $25 a month for a year. I can't complain. I'm already under contract from my recent free Genie upgrade so I didn't have that as a bargaining chip.

Called today. Free ST and $20 off for 12 months in exchange for a 1-year commitment. Best deal (for me) in the last 5 years.

My yearly call (just completed) resulted in:

Free ST with a 1 year commitment
    $20 off for 12 months
    $15 off for 15 months

It was actually my second call. I used "cancel" on my first call and "terminate service" on this call and both resulted in connection with the front line and not retention. Just a heads up.

Is it confirmed that you get a "limited" version of Sunday Ticket this way--I was under the impression that if I got the regular Sunday Ticket through DirecTV, and combined that with getting Max by this Madden offer, it would be exactly the same as just ordering Max but cheaper. Especially since it is confirmed that ST will not be on PS3 this year--that takes any differentiation there out of the equation. I already called and all they would give me was free HD for 2 years (which actually is a pretty good deal), but wouldn't touch the cost of Max for me.

Not having RZ on DirecTV would be a deal killer for me and make this not worth it. And then there is no point to getting the anniversary edition of Madden either.

How can you tell if you're connected to retention after saying "cancel service" or whatever?

So call back and talk retention into giving you the Red Zone Channel for free.

It will start asking you questions. If it just transfers you then its not retention.

Just ask the person who picks up if they are in the retention office. If not, just ask them to transfer you. Worked for me.

Hm, maybe. I was under the impression that they wouldn't transfer you until they tried themselves.

OK I had to go to retentions to get a deal. 1st guy wanted in CS $225 for ST; but he did give me a $20 credit for 6 months. Retentions told me I should always call them for the best deals. SO she gave ST MAX for $99 plus 1 year for $20 monthly credits and 6 months of $10 month credits. Premier customer since 2007; just extended contract last fall.I think having Premier has a lot to do with bargaining power. No contract extension either. I have had ST std for the last two years for free; got an HR 44 a few months ago so I am ready for some football.

Received st max for free last year so i wasn't expecting a great deal. This was from retentions and i had to agree to a 1 yr commitment. Probably could have done better but didn't want to keep calling.

    $20 off a month for 12 months
    $10 off a month for 24 months
ST max for 6 payments of $37.99

I was offered free ST Max, for 1 year commitment. Also offered ST or ST+Max for half price, no commitment. Given $15 off for 15 months, and $5 off HBO for six months, on top of my 11 months of remaining $10 off for HD.

In the end I decided to cancel ST completely, accept the credits offered, and free Red Zone.

Never really used ST. Just watched my local game, then switched to Red Zone.

Just called and got free Sunday Ticket Max, $20 off for 12 months, free Genie upgrade. They also gave me all the premium movie channels and sports channels free for 2 months and HD Extra for 6 months. I don't normally subscribe to any of that stuff.

One thing was the woman made a point to tell me next year I would NOT be eligible for any Sunday Ticket deals. I don't think I've ever been told that before (even though I call every year).

They were being pretty tight, it seems. Retentions knocked me from 38.99 for 4 months (or was it 6?) to 36.99 for 4 months + 15 bucks off my bill for 15 months.

I guess it's not bad. It more than cancels out. Max is 148 but 15 dollar credit a month for 15 months is 225 so I guess a net gain of 77 bucks.

But they didn't budge on much, especially with Showtime credits and stuff. Even told her I love Homeland and she spent time "looking for credits" and came back with nothing.

Do you think I should call again in a few days or be content? I even played the "well, my contract runs out today" card and I even offered to sign up for one more year if they give STMax for free and she didn't budge.

I actually feel like I spoke to the same retentions lady as I did last time I called a week ago? Maybe that's why?

I think there should be a separate thread where everyone posts what offer they got, along with customer info like how long you've been a customer, what package(s) do you subscribe to, did you take an offer the previous year, etc.

I tried logging into the Sunday Ticket app on my Android and it told me I wasn't subscribed to ST which I am due to the deal I got back in July. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just because the season hasn't started yet?
Edit: it's because preseason games aren't on ST. Called and verified.

When I log into my ST iPad app, it says "The season starts on September 08 - See you then!", nothing about not being subscribed.

You might want to check on your DirecTV account to see if they show you're subscribed. Or on your last statement, it should show ST as one of the line items.

Subscriber since 2004, Choice package. Called and said "cancel service, not moving, close account". Immediately transferred to retention (asked the CSR to confirm).

ME: I'm interested in ST, what kind of deals do you have on it?
CSR: Are you interested in ST or ST MAX?
ME: Only regular ST, don't care about MAX.
CSR: Sorry, no deals on regular but we can do MAX for 4 installments of 36.99 ($148 total).
ME: I really don't care about MAX any other offers on regular ST?
CSR: Sorry, I see here you got ST free last year, I tried that but the system does not allow consecutive free years.
CSR: But if you do the MAX deal, I can also give you a one time general credit of $50 on your bill.
    ME: Alright, sounds good.

ST MAX total cost of $98. Fair to me.
