Same here. Got max for $150 last year, no issue.
Planning on moving and want to keep my options open, likely will keep Directv, however I absolutely do not want a contract extension right now.
I'd be more than happy to pay $150 again

Guys, maybe you can help me.

I am a new subscriber. I got DTV in December and I got the last 4 weeks of ST. Now when the new season starts, would I have to pay for ST this upcoming season because I had it for free the last 4 weeks of the season, or can I call my CSR to get some kind of deal? I would like to get it, because I'm a Chicago Bears fan and since I'm a Chicagoan living in Wichita, the majority of games out here locally are the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos (both on CBS, but Chiefs are primary) and the Dallas Cowboys (FOX).....

You can ask for a deal, no guarantees though. You might have to pay full price if you want it.

Did my annual call today. Just told the automated system I wanted to end service. Didn't say cancel, just said "terminate service". Seems to get me to retention. Told the guy straight up I wanted to lower my bill, not pay for Sunday Ticket and maybe upgrade to the Genie. He comes back with the following:

$20 off per month for 12 months.
$15 off per month for 15 months.
Sunday Ticket with Red Zone for free. Said he didn't have anything for Sunday Ticket Max.
Showtime for free for 3 months.
    Genie for free.

Did have to sign a 2yr contract. But wanted the Genie and expected that. He did say if I didn't wan the Genie, I could do everything else still. The Sunday Ticket for free would require a 1 yr contract.

I feel good. Almost tried for the previously mentioned $200 Visa Card, but since I wasn't paying for Sunday Ticket, I didn't ask.

Wow! That is great. I've never even heard of 15 month discounts before, that's the first I've heard of that.. I've heard of 3, 6 and 12. I wanna say I've heard of 24, but I can't say for certain. What package do you have?

I have Choice Xtra Classic. And when they did the 2yr contract recorded call, I made sure I had the guy read me what discounts I was getting and he said $15 for 15 months. Only thing he didn't say was free Red Zone channel. So now I am worried I might not be getting that, as DTV site says you only get that with ST Max.

Would it possibly show on your online Directv account? Do you know how to check that? I think you will get it.

KSBillsFan, I did pretty much that same thing last year, and got a somewhat similar deal. That's my problem now. What do I do this year?

I received a somewhat similar offer to KsBillsFan. In fact, their offer was well over and above what I would have been willing to accept. First, I called to negotiate last week (I value ST Max at about $175). I was offered $60 off the early bird price, and said "no thanks" cancel it. Which they did.

I called back, asked about my ETF and when my contract was up. Of course they asked why I was inquiring. I told them that ST was a key difference between Directv and cable, that ST was simply too much this year and that cable made me an attractive offer so I was exploring my options (every bit of which was true).

    The offer from retention was:
    ST for free
    Max for $75 (4 payments x $18.75)
    $15 off for 15 months.
$10 free HD for autopay for 24 months.
A one year commitment was required, but that commitment runs concurrent to my current commitment.

Interestingly enough, she also offered me a deal on HBO, but I already have it. I inquired about Showtime but she said she didn't have any Showtime promotions. She told me my longevity (since '97) and payment history were both factors in the deal that was offered. She made it seem like there was a formula which then prompted what could be offered to a specific customer.

    More than generous IMO.

Anyone getting Red Zone as a stand alone for free this year? I've been able to get it in the past but haven't tried yet this year.

    Wow is what I said.

ETF is Early Termination Fee - if I cancel before my contract is up. I upgraded to Genie last year, therefore am still under contract. In fact, the one-year contract I had to agree to for the above offer will expire before my two-year contract for the Genie expires.

Yes, I looked at my account and Red Zone channel has been added. So looks like you should be able to do Red Zone as a stand alone, not just part of ST Max.

When I was doing my deal, the person I was talking with kept saying how happy DTV was with my long service (since 2009) and always paying my bill on time (auto pay). Also made a comment as long as I keep DTV, and pay my bill on time, I should be able to call back yearly for good deals, even when on contract. We shall see next summer.

    Good luck to everyone else.

I just called and got it added again this year. This is now the 4th or 5th year in a row that I've gotten Redzone for free without the ST.

Thanks KsBillsFan! I used your post pretty much as my "script". I've been with DTV for almost 20 years, with Sunday Ticket every year as well. Here is what I got from my call today...

    $34/month credit for 12 months.
Sunday Ticket with Red Zone Channel for free this year, will not auto-renew next year.
    GenieGo for free.
Required one year contract extension to July 2014.

I'm curious about you guys who sign up for the Red Zone channel as a stand alone. Doesn't it drive you crazy when the RZC signs off for the night and games are still going on? What if there is a good game that is still going on and is not available in your market? It's like the Heidi Bowl all over again!

I remember a number of times switching to a game that is still going on when Andrew signs off for the night...and saying 'thank goodness I can switch to the game'.

Customer for 13 years. Actually 17, but they screwed up my files after a move. I was very upset about the promotion for new subscribers who receive the NFL Sunday Ticket for free so I talked to CR a few months back and was told that my records would reflect that I get it for free when it came available again. End result after my call:

    NFL Sunday Ticket = Free
NFL Sunday Ticket Max = Free
$15 off my bill for the next 15 months

DirecTV really came through today. I'm theirs for another year. :)

Probably none. More and more weekday games available reducing the value of the subscription, and really not sure worth it.
