I have just signed up with DISH from DTV. Is there anyway I can get the programs off of my DTV DVR without loosing them when it is unhooked??

    Dripping...
Copy them to either a VCR or a DVD recorder. Or if you have a capture card in a PC that can act as a DVR is another way you can do it. The drive and the recordings are married to the DVR and you can't play the content directly from it anywhere else.

I just went through this, copying to a standalone DVR. On the HR-22 I could leave the dish disconnected, then hit the List key while it was complaining about no dish connected, then play recorded programs. They must have hit me with an authorization cutoff before I disconnected the DVR because the day after the account closed, the HR-22 refused to function. And I had only one more recording to pull of of it....
