Has anyone used Tapcons for an installation on the side of a stucco/cinderblock house? I'm getting conflicting answers. Tapcon says "sure!" But I've also read don't use Tapcons on cinder block because it's hollow.

    Any advice? Thanks.

Don't use tap-cons on cinder block because cinder block isn't strong enough, with just the surface area of the screw, to hold. Many times the tap-con will strip out the hole, or the cinder block will just break off a chunk.

Use lag shield and lag bolts. Specifically, use the SHORT (1" long) lag shields and 1.5" long lag bolts. And in stucco, do your best to find a stud, so that at least two of the bolts are going in a stud (use longer bolts without a lag shield for those).
