I liked Independence Day but this was just bad . Forgot about the message in the movie. The movie was not well made. I expected better from the same people who gave us Independence Day.

Suprisingly, my wife would really like to see this movie, just for the special effects, so we'll wait a few weeks for the rental. I've never known her to want to see a movie for special effects before, though...

The special effects are good but they were good in the First Star Trek movie and that was a bomb. I can't believe how bad the story was.

What amazes me is how right-wingers are getting so upset over a freakin' MOVIE. Every Bush-A**-Kisser on the radio is continuously harping about it, all the "conservative" editorialists are wringing their hands and shouting to anyone who will listen about all the "errors".

But.... IT'S JUST A MOVIE... YOU KNOW, FOR ENTERTAINMENT!!!

We went to see it as "Just a Movie" and thats the problem. Its a really bad movie. You may want to read the reviews from some of the left wing reviewers.

Yes, I'm so sure you were completely open-minded about it, you had absolutely no preconceived opinions of it at all. And pigs fly.

No one knows what can happen! The people that made this movie, nor anyone else!

Why all the talk about this movie? Its just a movie, if it sucks then it sucks, if its good then its good! Everyone has different things they like, not everyone is going to like this movie; SO WHAT! Some people may not like Shrek 2, but I don't see any post on that movie here. Republicans need to get past stupid stuff that doesn't add up to anything!

Republicans are rightfully tired of letting the leftist Hollywood media "teach" the public any idiot nonsense they can contrive.

Do you really think it a total coincidence that the left doesn't care about true threats like repetitive erupting volcanos, major earthquake fault zones, asteroidal impact, or supernovae(a real good blast within twenty or so light years and all life on Earth is pretty much history thanks to the radiation)?

Of course not. Those things are easily defined threats born out of the functions of nature which is governed by scientific laws. Outside the control of politics.

The left's pet peeves are everything they can concoct with a scapegoat dejure, always conveniently one of their pet enemies, such as the military, industry, or western society in general. Asbestos, Alar, DDT, overpopulation, nuclear power, fossil fuels, military weaponry, and so on. Always a convenient story that makes them and theirs heros and saints, and their enemies into heartless monsters trying to kill off all human life.

I don't know about you, but I've never come across a corporation ditzy enough to think that exterminating their customers was a good thing for repeat sales and thus sustained black ink.

Nor have I found a military yet that believes in willy-nilly wiping out the whole of civilization to get even with the other guy. Most militaries tend to be composed of human beings with family in the blast zones and they don't particularly pine for their incineration with perhaps the exception of that one cousin who still owes them $500 from 1977.

Well buckos, the school systems tend to engage in mass push teaching coinciding with things that the left plays up like nuclear war, overpopulation, and now global warming. The teachers are often on the same ideological side, blaming all and sundry for their problems but most especially those who succeeded where they failed; by that I mean tending to score in the bottom quartile in college, thus almost assuring a career in public school education.

So not only do kids get idiocy from the media at large, they get it at school in synchronicity with the big fads of the day.

Time to end that. Time to teach science, math, history, and economics as if they mattered. Because they do. And because the rest of the world that the left is so busy pointing out as being better than the west, is waking up itself right now, and battening down the hatches on their educational systems, and this is why places like India are eating tech jobs while Americans can't spell "tech jobs".

But of course, rather than blame our pathetically laughable excuse for an educational system and overtly ideologically partisan media, we blame big bad nasty white guys who we think look like Uncle Moneybags from the Monopoly game for outsourcing jobs to poor Indians in thatched roof mud huts in their never ending holy war to screw the people, exploit the poor, and enrich their coffers.

Can't tell you how many people capable of diagnosing a twelve segment hybrid Ethernet/Token Ring LAN problem concerning connectivity between an Oracle database in accounting and a Windows 2002 Server in the datacenter are simply waiting to be exploited... who happen to live in mud huts... which in India all those tech support people... don't.

The Republicans are right, the left is wrong as usual, and there's nothing new under the sun.

(For laughs you might wish to do the calculations concerning solar energy from space to Earth's surface and all the attendant losses BEFORE you get to statistical losses such as weather problems and MUCH BEFORE you ever get to conversion inefficiencies. Anyone for putting two million square feet of solar cells on every house?

Or you might wish to revist that brouhaha between the animal environmentalists and the alternate energy environmentalists when a windmill generating plant was in the path of endangered birds who with their birds brains flew in and became puree.

Oh yeah, alternative energies and collectivist socialist policies will make us all better. By spending the winter shoveling snow off our solar panels and hand cranking a generator to run the old AM radio.

But then we'd not get to see such lovely works of art, ahem, as this super turkey of a movie.)

What the f*ck are people like you going to bitch about when we finally do run out of oil and none of the water is fit to drink and you have to walk around with a freakin' oxygen tank strapped to your nose like we were on Mars? Blame Clinton?

You know, there are places where there is only one ideology. They're called dictatorships. You seem to think there would still be a free republic without any liberal influence? Not hardly. Our system depends on both ideologies.

Your little rant is so full of hyperbole and misdirection it reads like a Ted Kaczynski missive, but with more bitterness.

I'm sorry you conservatives are so weak and pathetic that the liberals keep beating you up and taking your lunch money. :D

First of all, waydwolf, do you or any body else here or anywhere for that matter really believe the people of the United States is really that stupid! "Republicans are rightfully tired of letting the leftist Hollywood media "teach" the public any idiot nonsense they can contrive." Look I'm not a kid, I can decide for myself what I believe, I don't need you (or those like you) telling me what I can and can't watch (because if it was up to you guys this movie or movies like it would have never been made), thats why WE live in a democracy. On the other hand I am a adult that has a brain, I know when I smell bull*#^* from what you call "the leftist Hollywood media." I am watching a movie for the purpose of entertainment, I learned when I was five years old that movies were not REAL! I don't take seriously what I see on a MOVIE, like I said in my previous post who cares.

You talk as if you know everything, you act like something like this could never happen. How do you know this, do you have a crystal ball or something. NO one knows whats going to happen tomorrow let alone the day after tomorrow.:) No one really knows where we came from, where we are going, how the universe was formed, how big the universe is, how old the universe is, and so on. Lets face it five hundred years ago everyone thought the Earth was flat. Around the same time everyone thought the Earth was the center of the Solar System. At one time it was heresy to even think there were other planets, let alone life beyond Earth. Five hundred years from now scientist will have probably disproved many of the beliefs we have now, just like the scientist of today have disproved lets use as a example, that the Earth is flat.

You have the right to believe what you want, and you have the right to state your belief. But everyone else that has a different belief than you has the right to make their movie without having EVERYONE bring politics into the mix.

Just get a hold of the Video that the leftwing wackos put in in 1988 hosted by Ted Denson. He was all wrong. It's fun to watch just to see how wrong it was.

And the government is just as guilty for taxing it. They want you to continue to smoke. I don't smoke and never had but if someone wants to that is why we have a free country.

So? Has this become a "they did it, so can I" country? Don't you think that's a bit childish? I thought the response to the "Passion..." movie was stupid, too, since it is JUST A MOVIE!. We're not on the playground anymore.

So? Reagan said ketchup is a vegetable. There are "whackos" on either side, both just as rediculous. The ideal is a balance.

For those conservatives who keep insisting there is this huge left wing conspiracy, the review of "The Day After Tomorrow" on NPR pointed out a number of factual problems with the movie, and why it could never happen.
