OK. NOw that I've got your attention.

Got my Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition in the mail today, sit down in my chair with the hockey game on TV and I'm thinking I'll enjoy flipping through the magazine and reading all the articles. Really, it's all about the articles, right? ;)

Anyway. I get about 20 pages in or something and there's this 2 page spread from D*.

Unfortunately, the 2 page spread is Burt Reynolds wearing nothing but the suit he was born in with the caption "Everything should be seen in DirecTV HD".

A turn of the page says "well maybe not everything", but the damage is done. That will require several alcoholic beverages to get THAT picture out of my head.

Bet D* gave Burt a free HR20 to do that pose.
    That's about what it's worth.

Ah, kids. That picture is quite old and there was quite an uproar when it first came out. If I recall correctly, and it would be in line with D*'s current advertising trends, the picture was the first "centerfold" for the new at the time Playgirl magazine. Is that still around?

Not sure if playgirl is still around....

And even if it is an old picture....

DAMN, I didn't want it in the middle of my swimsuit edition! It's just not right! Somebody over at SI should have thought about the mental repurcussions resulting from that ad! I sat down expecting hot girls in swimsuits ... I mean really good articles ... Not butt naked burt!

A quick web search says that the picture was for Cosmo in 1972 ...

From a recurring dream of Blanche Devereaux, in which Sonny Bono and Lyle Waggoner are both pursuing Dorothy:

"How many hit singles have you had?"

    "None. I've never been married."

First the Super Bowl Snickers commercial - now this -

Some ad exec somewhere had a pretty sick sense of humor.
