I'm looking for AMC , E!, ESPNU, Fuse, G4, Hallmark Movie Channel (wasn't this one previously announced?), Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, Outdoor Channel (this one was actually tested -- I can't understand why it wasn't lit up), Style, TRAVEL CHANNEL, WE TV, TV One, WGN America, MSNBC (I have to add them in, despite not being ready until the end of June)…among others…

We can definitely do without as many PPV channels to add some of these to the mix…

Then again, I've been begging for SkyNews Intl and BBC World News in standard def for several years now, to no avail...

I do have a question regarding the new satellite. Is there still going to be Ka bandwidth available for D12 or is it going to have to use the FSS spectrum meaning possibly new dishes?

We won't need new dishes. The only FSS application pending currently is for some future "Directv 97W" located at the 97W slot recently surrendered by Dish (because they didn't use it soon enough after they were awarded it). Even assuming the FCC grants the application, that is several years away at best.

I would like to see these channels added ASAP:
Travel, WGN America, Hallmark Movie, Lifetime, AMC, and C-Span.
ANYTHING added would show progress, and lend hope to all of us that something is moving forward. Why can't D* inform us via their website, or email, or a news release of future plans??

Is D* having to save bandwidth for ST this fall? Didn't they last year turn off a lot of HD PPV on Sundays to have enough bandwidth for all the games? If they got rid of those HD PPVs now and replaced them with national HD channels, then what would they do come NFL season in September? I'm sure they don't want to have to turn off national HD channels on Sundays like they did 2 years ago with TNT HD. Could this being part of the reason of no new HD now?

I wouldn't expect WGN for awhile.

Thanks for writing. I see you've been with us for several years and I would like to let you know that we appreciate your business. While we don't have plans to add WGN Superstation in HD at this time, we're working to bring you even more HD channels in the near future. Stay tuned to directv.com/hd to keep up with the latest HD news.

Thanks again for writing and for your continued support!

    Sincerely,

    Irish A.

Well, that would be great, but Turner Classic Movies has no immediate plans to go HD...so not much DirecTV can do for you there. :)

That is their STD email response. I got the very same thing when asking about TRAVHD.

There are approximately 8 open HD slots and 15 PPV HD replacement candidates available on the D11 satellite. Approximately 9 of the 15 PPV HD replacement candidates are needed for NFL Sunday Ticket (in addition to other PPV HD slots which are also used nightly for other events). Those 9 are also used throughout the year for other events such as the 5 being used for the Master's this weekend.

Again, these are approximates. The details can be found at: http://www.dbstalk.com/showpost.php?p=1191863&postcount=2

That leaves approximately a dozen or so D11 HD slots somewhat available between now and when D12 goes "live", which is anywhere from 7-9 months from now (assuming a September launch).

Daily monitoring has shown that these remaining HD slots are being very carefully allocated one-by-one as new HD channels are introduced and prioritized, along with the possibility that some (or most?) of this remaining bandwidth may be cautiously left unallocated until the successful launch of the D12 satellite.

Looking at Redkell's list of 24 regular and 28 premium movie channels currently offered in HD but not on D*, there are only one or two I'd be interested in:

    Travel
    AMC

I don't subscribe to any of the movie channels or any of the premium sports packs, so those don't really interest me. The stuff I most want to see in HD aren't there yet - BBCA, Sleuth, Historty Intl.

By the way, Hallmark Movie Channel is on the HD list, but D* doesn't even have the SD version of this channel, do they? I used to watch some of the mystery movies on Hallmark (Mystery Woman and the John Laroquette series) but I think they stopped making these.)

Mav TV is a special channel set up only for the immediate market it is not a national channel.
