So true! I guess I need to lower my expectation of DIRECTV. Getting mad is getting me nowhere. All weekend I've seriously contemplated moving to DISH Network, picking up a couple VIP722 HDDVRs, and watching Travel Channel in HD. I'll decide within the next day or two. I'm not a big sports guy, I never order any of the sports packages.
Unfortunatly, I have just over a year left on my initial two year contract. I went from DISH to cable to save money (never had any problems with DISH and they carried the my locals from Sioux City). I decided I wanted more HD Channels and heard DirecTV was the way to go. If I had it to do all over again, I'd either had stayed with cable or back with DISH. Tired of the 771 signals, slow receivers etc. And yes, I had the techs out to realign the dish and if anything made it worse with lower signals. They're going to have to really start making improvements before I ever consider to re-up.
Before you do this, make sure you've surveyed what you're recording and watching and ensure that the switch is more than an emotional reaction.
That being said, everyone should be scoring the options at least twice a year with regard to how well their setup is meeting their needs and if they find that the grass looks greener for at least a year, consider that it probably is.
Good tip! Thanks.
I would miss the Smithsonian channel.
I'd rather have Charlie running D* than Malone.
So would I, I think Charlie has the customer's interests in mind much more than Malone ever has or will. I know it's business, but since Malone has taken over the full reins, I don't get the impression he's very concerned about being the best provider, just the most profitable.
Hes greedy think TCI .
You'll have to educate me on TCI, I don't know anything about it.
The progression for many cable customers (including myself) was Liberty Cable, TCI, AT&T and finally Comcast.
For all of his faults, at least Charlie really gives a damn about the business. John Malone doesn't.
Charlie's big problem is he needs to take Negotiating 101, and learn how to to keep his channels on line when it comes time to renew them.
Like I said, Charlie definitely has his faults.
In case anyone cares, the "1080p on DIRECTV" video in the Top Movies tab is now in HD.
More HD in 2009! We've got it!
And it's free
And the Terminator preview is in HD as well.
I would not want either of them.
And Charlie's not?.
Yeah, but the Christian Bale tirade on the set last year would be a lot more fun in HD.
