If anyone ever believed that this topic would cause DirecTV to add new HD channels, they were sadly mistaken. It's been pointed out countless times in this and previous threads that DirecTV is not looking here to figure out what HD channels to add.

Holy hell, can you read? I said that they have every channel I watch. I don't watch Travel Channel, AMC, WGN, or any of the other popular missing channels.

But if you had them in HD you'd watch them? See you're human: no matter what you have, you'll always want what you don't have.

I seriously doubt that. I know you'd watch other channels when Directv adds them.

Like it or not I agree with Coke. In all honesty, I have no doubts people will suddenly find 'new favorite channels to watch' when Directv adds 50-70 channels next year...

No, I would not. As a matter of fact, I can tell you exactly what I'll do when DirecTV launches them: turn each channel on for 15-30 seconds, think "cool, a lot of people wanted these channels" and CONTINUE NOT WATCHING THEM.

Oh really? You know that I'll suddenly find the crap on WGN interesting because it's in HD? I'll suddenly want to watch travel shows because they're in HD? I don't have enough HD content I'm actually interested in to watch, so I'll watch stuff I don't care about simply because it's in HD?

You're out of control with this horse crap. I never watched those channels pre-2005 when everything was SD for me, so why would it change now?

I think this thread was a great place to air everyone's favorite pet peeve "not in HD" channel.

There are plenty of channels left to convert.

The point some seem to be missing is that DirecTV did not fail to deliver on any promised channel. In fact DirecTV outlined an extremely clear plan on how the D11 satellite would be used and they followed their business plan exactly.

It is ok to wish they had chosen a different plan, but it is after all a business and they are entitled to make a plan and follow it. D11 was utilized exactly as they said they would.

What I am saying is that while you may not agree with their business plan, it would be unfair to say that they had failed, they didn't.. they just didn't do what you would like to have seen.

Also I am not forgetting about the premium channel issue, but that issue predates D11 and I do not know if anyone has figured out what went wrong between DirecTV and HBO.

I don't have the exact stats but I'm guessing whenever a system adds an HD feed the viewership for that channel on that system doubles or even triples.

Now that Q3 is almost at an end... did we get any new national HD this quarter?

You don't have any stats, you simply pulled this out of your backside. I'm not arguing that a new HD channel will not see increased viewership. But I am saying that it will not be double or triple, and I will not be part of that increase.

Of the popular HD wants, I'd like AMC-HD so I can stop getting Mad Men & Breaking Bad from "other sources." Travel Channel is ok to watch when bored. I don't care for the Cubs/ChiSox, so WGN won't matter. More premium movie channels don't make sense to me since a DVR can eventually catch the movie in the HD cycle.
