"Three Rivers" has become our medical show to replace "ER". (Sorry NBC, but while we'll watch "Trauma" we've consigned "Mercy" to the season-shift-if-it-survives group for watching in the future and then, only if it improves substantially.)

"Three Rivers" has a talented ensemble cast, tight writing, and solid directing. The episodes move along, patients do die like in real life, and they have successes with transplants which is very 21st Century medicine.

Of course, it's opposite Sunday night football and it gets pushed late by Sunday night football. So it's ability to garner ratings against "Desperate Housewives" and the Fox comedies is limited. I hope CBS gives it a chance as it would be a winner against Leno.

I watch all 3 of these news show, however there basically copys of shows from the last few years.

Three Rivers = Heartland TNT show only lasted 9 ep
Mercy = Just a primetime version of HathoRNe or Nurse Jackie
Trauma = a combo of that old 70's series Emengercy or Third Watch that ended a few years ago

If your waiting to see about Mercy, you should know it wasn't listed to air yet but with Maure Tierney having breast cancer her new show Parenthood was put on hold so NBC rushed Mercy into that time slot. She has since droped out of Parenthood for more treatment. 13 eps of Mercy were ordered but not sure how many will air befor Parenthood takes the slot back.

Hmmmm. I generally see eye to eye with you on your assessments of programs, but not this time. Granted I've only watched 1.1666 episodes of Three Rivers (couldn't stand the second one after 10 minutes), but the acting is just too sophomoric for my tastes. I'll stick with Grey's.

I'm watching Mercy and Three Rivers.... but not Trauma. I do think Mercy is too centered around Veronica, I'd like to see more of the others out of the workplace as well, last week's ep was finally getting there.

Actually, I'm not to sure what I was thinking about. We like "Three Rivers", but in terms of broadcast network medical dramas we also watch "House", "Grey's Anatomy", "Private Practice" as well as "Trauma." Maybe our problem with "Mercy" was we were just too burnt out on mouthy nurses after the Summer of "HawthoRNe" and "Nurse Jackie".

And yes, Rangers94, there's nothing really new under the Sun. But as I said in another thread, when you get to the basic core of a story and compare it, there haven't been any basic new story ideas since the Ancient Greeks. Fortunately interesting characters and tight writing can make up for that.
