Well at least you didn't parrot my post while passing it off as something different. An improvement!

I'm still talking about Anna Mae Bullock ... But the opinions in this thread seem to be a simple difference between people who believe Tina Turner will simply take Swiss Citizenship without renouncing and the belief that she will renounce. The translated and propagated story leaves enough room for doubt with "will therefore also give back her U.S. citizenship".

It takes a little work to figure out the real story:
    http://www.zsz.ch/artikel_118921.html

«Sie freut sich, wie sie hier aufgenommen wurde, wie man sie freundlich und zurückhaltend behandelt», sagt die Sprecherin. Die Schweiz sei längst ihr Lebensmittelpunkt. Daraus habe sich für die heute 73-Jährige der Wunsch ergeben, auch die Schweizer Staatsbürgerschaft zu erhalten. «Sie will klare Verhältnisse schaffen», erklärt Karin Rhomberg. «Tina Turner gibt darum auch die Staatsbürgerschaft der USA zurück.»

"Tina Turner is also back about U.S. citizenship." (per Google Translation) Very clear. :)

«Tina Turner wird auch den Verzicht auf US-Staatsbürgerschaft.» would be the phrase to look for.

If one intends to permanently live in a stable democratic country, one should become a citizen. In the case of Switzerland one should learn at least one of it three languages also.

If that's what this 73-year-old singer wants to do, why would anyone care?

You could do much worse than choose Switzerland. Stable, booming economy, scientifically progressive, not to mention great cheese.

Plus decent watches and a knife tool that does it all. :)

Can't have enough cannon fodder...

Not that she's likely to be drafted at 73.
