Went to sit down and watch some Castle on 245 just know, guide showed the current show and 3 others in back to back, was surprised to hit the channel and see golf, was there a announcement that it would preempt the shows that are list in the guide? Kind of aggravating, this is why there are dedicated sports channels

Rain delay of over an hour extended the golf coverage.

They push other programming back or out a lot for ball games. Not too many times for golf.
This particular tournament has the top 99 players from around the world playing and has a lot of attention from the golfing world.
Yep, I am one of them.

Turner knows this possibility when they bid on the rights to the tournament. It's not like they put a season finale of Castle right after the event. The show is syndicated and the episode will be repeated a lot over the next 12 months.

"This is why there are dedicated sports channels." -- Turner is not dedicated to anything. Turner properties have a lot of sports programming that often conflicts with their regularly scheduled programming. As do the networks like CBS, FOX, NBC. Everyone has heard the famous CBS overtime comment: "60 minutes will be seen in its entirety...."

Had TNT cut off coverage, I guess golf fans could have said "This is why there are dedicated drama channels."

I agree with everything you say, except maybe it should be "This is why there are dedicated rerun the same show 10000 times channels".

Goodness. Memo: TNT carries sports (NBA, NASCAR, NCAA tournament, and The PGA Championship, one of the four Major golf tournaments of the year). Sports often run long and take priority. People will just have to catch their favorite rerun the next 80 times its show this month.
