So after all this HD programming packages take effect, are we still going to be subjected to three channels devoted to TNT?

Seems to me they could drop channel 75 and put something else there.

What's up with TNT and DirecTV?

TNT-HD on 75 and 245 are exactly the same channel, just one is a vitrual remap of the other so it's not taking any more space and eliminating one doesn't free up any either.

Ok....I see what you are saying. But to have two HD feeds and one SD feed makes no sense to me.

    Thanks!

They are maintaining channel 75 for the people that have not yet upgraded to MPEG4 capable equipment. The channels in the 70's will go away once all the MPG2 subs are updated, probably sometime next year.

OK, try again, there is only 1 HD feed, just shows up as two different channels. They also need to keep the SD feed for folks that don't have HD receivers.

There is only one SD feed and one HD feed, that HD feed is mapped to two separate channel numbers

Two HD appearances, not feeds (as you've already conceded).

The different appearances serve those who are incapable of setting favorites. You get to see the HD channel where you would expect to see other HD channels and you also get to see that there is an HD (upcon)version of the SD channel.

?? there is no upcon(version) of the SD TNT feed, 75 and 245 are the MPEG2 version of TNT-HD

I was watching Las Vegas and it got interrupted several times. A couple of times it went out completely and then back on both 75 and 245, WHY?
    During a commercial I checked the SS's and I got 97%-101, 94%-110, 98%-119 and 96%-103b. Does anybody know anything?
    Thanks

    Uh, no.

TNT-SD is on 245. The new method is to have the HD channel on the same number, so they put an HD version on 245. The older units cannot handle two channels on the same number, so they maintained the old position of 75 from when all the HD channels were in one grouping (all of three months ago).

They did the same with HBO-East, Showtime-East, ESPN and ESPN2.

It has nothing to do with favorites. It has to do with consistency.

    But thanks for playing....

Ooh. I missed that one. Two major things wrong in one short harsh post. Not a record, more like usual stuff.

If you didn't get a searching for satellite message, it is unlikely it had anything to do with signal strengths. I would assumed that either TNT had an issue, or the transmission from TNT to DirecTV had an issue or DirecTV had an issue.

In that case, it could be a problem on your end or on theirs.

If the station went down on the DirecTV end, you could get a 771, depending on where in the stream it happens. (See the -1 RSN stations that go off even though the transponders are on and give a 771 error.)
